No thread about this? What position should the EU and the US have about this? http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060101/wl_nm/russia_ukraine_dc_25
The same postition as a bystander has in a car accident. Ukraine needs to develop a diverse fuel supply. I would bet they could get a Turkish fed supply line from the south.
I don't think the EU has to have any opinion on this. The old contract expired, they couldn't agree on a new one so there's no gas for Ukraine. Russia didn't try to rip them off, they just wanted them to pay as much as everyone else pays.
Reduced amount of gas for the EU since the main pipeline to the Ukraine also runs to central europe carrying the product.
The Russians may have some reasons in this dispute, but I wonder what they will say when Ukraine joins NATO and the European Union.
With a population of 80 million it is not likely we'll see them in the EU soon. It's about time for the NATO though... even Albania can join em...
More likely than Turkey joining us at the moment... (apart from half of Turkey allready being here ;-) )
