Um, Warburg Pincus and Richard Gough anyone?

Just joking. I kid, I kid. I don't want to bring this up again, and, for the record (again) I consider Gough a fine reporter.

Did not know that? Should have been checking these boards back in May, when the esteemed AQ pointed it all out.

I don't see this happening - although I didn't think the Beckham deal would close either. Shows you WTF I know. Nevertheless, I'm for it.

Obviously JPA still has enough gas and finesse to beat most MSL defenses - Not too surprising - So sure I'd take either him or Sheva - As MM points out, Sheva's style is too "European" (whatever the hell that means) for Chelsea - He hasn't done well in the EPL but was Chelsea's main key scorer in the UEFA Champions League - And yes, I'd take him in a heart beat too

But as another has pointed out, he won't come until the end of EURO 2008 - Or until Ukraine has failed to qualify - Right now Ukraine is in a tough group with Italy and France and even Scotland ahead of them, but the (Ukraine) has a game in hand

    Of course you do.

But Riz and Paulie hate Liverpool.

I'm just glad that you'll are DC United fans!

Even if Sheva nevers comes to MLS, at least googling his wife allowed me to finally figure out who the topless woman in SuperDave's avatar is.

Payne recently said that our DP would be of Latin heritage. Although I wish we wouldn't rule out more than half of the world's elite, I presume this makes financial sense -- maximizing the increased draw to help subsidize the DP. In any event, that rules out Sheva. I suspect it is other MLS teams that are in (very preliminary) discussions with Chelsea.

I'd rather have Ronaldinho than anyone, and would gladly wait another year for him. Wonder how much that would cost, and whether he'd have any interest.

it would cost any MLS team way too much for shevi until the end of his contract from a cost basis standpoint.
yes he has unfortunantly been somewhat a failure for chelsea, but for chelsea to get rid of him, its gg to cost MLS prolly more than the 35 million that chelseapaid MILAN.
thats alot of money for Shevi.
    just my thought

Exactly. I mean, not very many Brazilian players have succeeded in the EPL--they must all suck, too, right?

All of them...especially (according to C1pher)...

"Somehow DC United ended up with the worst two Brazilian futbol players out of the whole damn country."

Shevchenko is long for Sheva, which is latin. He is a descendant of the barbarian tribes who attacked Rome back in the day...

How much more Latin does he have to be!?!

How long did DC pursue Emilio? This is probably just the FO laying the groundwork for a potential move down the line. Either way, I think it's a long shot.

It has been talked about long before May. I've heard Tommy Smyth talk about his American wife being from around the DC area for years now.

I heard a rumor that we were trading Addlery for a second DP slot, and picking up Riquelme AND Shevchenko. Oh, and Fabio Cannavaro is rumored to be coming to DC for just under $200k.

How about Anelka instead? He's doing great AND wants to leave his current team...

I think we are missing the biggest upside if this rumor plays out. And that is Mrs. Shevchenko.

You're also forgetting our trade for Carroll and Nolly, we're getting Emre Belözoğlu and Gianluigi Buffon for five dollars each per year. Apparently they just really wanted to play in the US.

So when the Galaxy come to RFK, the banner will read "Our DP's wife is hotter than your DP's wife"?
