The off-season is over and pre-season is officially in swing - so time for a new thread... Here's a nice vine for you to enjoy of some spicy Burrito action... Insane handles by @BurriMartinez07 & play by play from @KyleBeckerman #RSL https://t.co/uF7f7nTWa5— Real Salt Lake (@realsaltlake) January 26, 2016
Trey showing some Yura love too... 💰 @YuraMovsisyan https://t.co/cq1OV3CBxJ— Real Salt Lake (@realsaltlake) January 26, 2016
If only Burrito had turned back to Sandoval and said to him "Peep this game" before proceeding to destroy those cones with his cutback moves and then stared him down as he walked away... Oh man... That would have been indescribably epic.
Yura either misshit the shit out of that or plays to his slice like my golf game either way, a goals a goal Sandoval woulda hit the crossbar somehow
So, he's doing what he's supposed to be doing... kicking the ball into the net. He hits it with the outside of his foot, hence the curl, which is nice, but I would only expect this from a soccer player. Yura is no exception. I should send out a tweet of me making an MPLS routing change so people can see me do what I'm supposed to be doing... and I'll even put some English on my typing strokes.
Figures... RSL still scouring the globe after potential center back signing hits a snag Can someone get on that rep changing thing and edit the team roster for Waibel?
I'm glad he clarified what "challenging the status quo" means. It never made much sense in his comments on Sunny. Basically it means at least in play to be a starter. This article raises another question for me, if we are looking to add a CB that can be a starter and to challenge Maund and Olave than which of those two are we considering starting quality?
So I just got an email from RSL saying that the March 2 CCL game was available to STHs for "special pricing". I thought this game was included in our ST pack? Are they assuming RSL makes the playoffs and adding "bonus" tickets for that? Correct me if I'm wrong, but this could be the only CCL game we get at the RioT this year.
Not to be pedantic, but what is the definition between off-season and pre-season since they are both not the real season. Why did this headline make me think of The Wide World of Sports intro.......
This. The comments that RSL staff have made regarding Olave lead me to believe they think he has at least another year as a starter. We might disagree with that, but all comments from the staff were (to paraphrase) "Olave had a really good end to the season after a slow start."
Not an easy job. Yura and Sunday look like wins, hopefully Craig can find a winner. But Tigres vs. Maulave is looking pretty likely at this point. And Schuler just made $20K in negotiations gains today alone.
if we sign Schuler more than a week or two from the CCL game then its a mistake, IMO He's a known value. He's going to be injured more than not. I would hope RSL isn't so quick to ditch their pursuit of actual contributors
So I am off to Orlando for the season opener! Now that we have a pre-season thread, Is it too early for a game thread?
First game - [season] - last game - [offseason] - training camp start - [preseason] - first game... Off-season is when the team is sitting at home, crying into their protein shakes. Pre-season is when the team is actually getting injured, er, practicing and their is some real 'team' work going on in training camp.
Can't see a player or agent agreeing to that. The team's medical staff makes the decision's regarding health, so it's stacked in the organization's favor.
It's not surprising to have performance bonuses in a contract. It wouldn't be that far fetched to see a low salary + bonus for playing in a game. Whether he'd agree to it or not is the big question. Personally, I think we need to just move on. There's never been an indication that he can stay healthy for 75% or more of the season, and given his age now, I just don't see it improving. I've thought he's a great player when healthy, but aside from the one season, that's rarely the case.
