Since the official thread starters are falling down on their jobs, I decided to start the thread for the next game. My predicition: 3-0 RSL win. Goals by Jamie, Sabo and Garcia.
Can't be there (stupid work). I'm predicting a 2-1 RSL win with some fluke Phila goal late in the match.
My prediction: another 0-0 tie, people start really complaining about Jaime, and the doomsayers start jumping off rhetorical cliffs about the new formation.
Daughter Ismitje representing the clan at this game. She's at university and gets some spending money every month, and knows there's not really more than that forthcoming. If she called and asked for $75 randomly, the answer would probably be no. But she asked for $75 to get tickets for her and her roommates to attend the RSL-Philly game, and I caved within seconds. Clever gal.
At least you know the schedule so she can't randomly ask to buy tickets for games that don't exist. I think we win this one, but it won't be pretty.
Lol, and did you ask for proof that she bought the tickets (and later that she attended the game)? Kids are smart, I was in college once not too long ago, I knew who to go to to a couple extra bucks which promptly went to beer.
Speaking of hooch... What are the particulars for the beer swilling festival that precedes the game? I should show this year.
Real excited about this match. My son wants us to wear RSL and Philly gear, but so far they've all been ties so I'm thinking of going all RSL myself. Sapong is out for Philly, he might have been dangerous. I've not seen enough of this French striker to think he might trouble Schuler and Olave. Is Phillips healed yet? Any chance Allen gets more playing time? Can't wait!
Surprised it was this many, as I looked via the online ticket outlet and it seemed more like a couple hundred (most in east side second level). I wonder if they're including stand-up tix? On a different note, practice today was a fairly quiet affair, with only a couple dozen fans there at the stadium. A little 15-v-2 to start Dunny and Gaschk taping the game preview... Field and stadium looking good DLHvision looking huge - replays are going to be awesome! (and no more crick in the neck looking at mini-board behind my section) Phillips was training, so decent chance he'll be playing this weekend. Kavita is bigger than I expected, Okwuonu small by comparison, plus Phillips and Pecka almost tiny by comparison. Pecka wasn't training - still just exercising with Glad and Stertzer.
My prediction for the game is that the scoreline will be found somewhere in Pi (in honor of pi day and the mess of a thread that was the point tracker thread).
So the first score combination I could find that is not in pi (out to 1 million digits) is 11-10. In honor of THAT, I'm predicting a ridiculously wild affair and the game ends with RSL winning 11-10. Interestingly every combination of numbers X-X, X-XX, XX-X, and XX-XX exists up to 11-10 in pi out to 1 million digits. Theoretically since pi is an infinite number every combination of numbers must exist in it somewhere.
I try so hard to not care, not get involved, and not torture myself by following RSL when I'm so far away and watching games means getting up early in the morning on Sunday. I can't do it. I'm really hoping to see the formation start to click a bit more although I don't expect it to fall into place for some time still. I miss Nat (he got me tickets once by answering my questions on the radio) but also love Olave (I got the season ticket holder draw for the on field experience after the game once and was able to line myself up right to get his jersey). Considering the a dearth of highlights from last week it makes it easy to say one of my favorite moments was simply when Olave put on a burst of speed to get to beat someone to the ball. Pi day will be over here by the time I'm watching so I can go with a whole number prediction of 2:1 RSL.
I don't expect the formation to really click for another month or two. Ultimately we need to stick with it, and not get into an early panic and go back to the diamond. It will take time, and we'll probably have a lot of ugly games in the meantime. I bet it'll be more into May when it starts to look like a normal formation for us.
