Not sure if you caught this, with both supportes clubs protesting the match, there were not a whole lot of fans at start time for this past weekends FCZ-GCZ match. So on the highlights of the match, they added some fan noise. Nice!
Like sands in an hourglass these are the Days of FC Sion ... - Gattuso seems to be heading to AC Milan, in what function, no idea. - 8 new players from the U21 team are now training with the 1st team. FC Sion II was 4th in the 1st Division Promotion this season. - CC has refused to pay the 1st team players after their loss to FCSG. "The players pretended to pay, I will pretend to pay them ..."
The last 4/5 matches are as follows for LS and Servette with my guess for their points. LS: @ Basel 0 points vs Luzern 0 points vs Servette 1 point @ GCZ 0 points Servette vs YB 1 point vs Sion 3 points @ FCSG 0 points @ LS 1 point vs Luzern 1/0 points I think that LS will gain at most 1 point, while Servette will gain at least 5. They would then tie with current goal differential at -20 for LS and -26 for Servette, there is still ground to make up. Servette when they lose need to loose close and LS needs to lose by quite a bit.
Half Time Sion - GCZ 0-2 Basel - LS 1-0 Streller missed a PK in the 41st min or this one would be 2-0 as well.
Sion - GCZ 0-4 http://www.srf.ch/sport/fussball/super-league/ungefaehrdeter-gc-sieg-bei-desolatem-sion Sion had a few good chances, but it was clear that the 8 players sent to the reserve team would have helped. The largest talking point of the match was this: http://www.srf.ch/sport/fussball/super-league/ausraster-von-xavier-margairaz Margairaz went after the beloved CC after the match. Basel - LS 2-0 http://www.srf.ch/sport/fussball/super-league/basel-gibt-sich-gegen-lausanne-keine-bloesse LS unlucky in this one, the 1st goal was probably offside, and their goal was not. Basel 66 GCZ 60 FCSG 56 * FCZ 46 * Sion 45* Thun 41 * YB 39 * Luzern 36 * LS 27 * Servette 23**
17 May Thun - FCSG 18 May FCZ - Luzern Servette - YB Big matches all around. FCSG needs a win to stay with touching distance of GCZ for the 2nd CL spot. Luzern needs points as well to keep their slim hopes of a EL spot alive. Servette needs something from the match with YB.
17 May Thun - FCSG 3-0 http://www.srf.ch/sport/fussball/super-league/thun-weiterhin-auf-dem-vormarsch No chanch for FCSG to win the championship now. They are pretty secure for a EL spot. Thun looking to unseat Sion from the EL. They have played very well this spring. 18 May FCZ - Luzern 4-1 http://www.srf.ch/sport/fussball/super-league/der-fcz-stoppt-den-luzerner-hoehenflug FCZ is looking to cement its spot as the 2nd EL participant. Servette - YB 0-1 http://www.srf.ch/sport/fussball/super-league/yb-bricht-den-auswaertsbann Servette missed a huge chance to gain points on LS. This was a great opportunity for them. They need to regroup quickly because Sion comes to town on Wednesday. Who knows what that will bring with it. Basel 66 GCZ 60 FSCG 56 FCZ 49 Sion 45 * Thun 44 YB 42 Luzern 36 LS 27 Servette 23 * 22 May Sevette vs Sion 25 May LS - Luzern Sion - Thun 26 May FCSG - Servette YB - FCZ GCZ - Basel
22 May Servette vs Sion 4-0 Great win for Servette. Basel 66 +29 GCZ 60 +11 FCSG 56 +17 FCZ 49 +12 Sion 45 -13 Thun 44 -1 YB 42 +1 Luzern 36 -11 LS 27 -22 Servette 26 -23 25 May LS - Luzern Important match for both teams, if Luzern wants to have an outside shot at the 3rd Europa League spot, they need a win. LS's problems are well documented. Sion - Thun Thun could bypass Sion with a win here for the 5th spot. Sion looks to be in a free-fall. 26 May FCSG - Servette FCSG has a Europa League spot in hand, the only thing that can change is where they enter. It is almost assured that they will be 3rd. Servette has a lot to play for, survival. If Servette got a point from this match they would be estatic. YB - FC Zurich FCZ can put a stranglehold on 4th place and the Europa League spot that goes along with it with a win. YB can still qualify as well and put some pressure on Thun. GCZ - Basel Not much needs to be said about this one. It should be really fun to watch.
In an effort to win back some love, Sion will play Thun this Saturday and all people will be allowed entry for free. LS will allow all kids under 16 in for free to their two remaining matches against Luzern and Servette. Also the LS-Servette match will not be on TSR, that will be the FCSG-GCZ match.
Wow man I´m so pleased to see Servette within striking distance now! What a comeback late on in the season!
I can confirm that it was. Especially the last two minutes! Basel will still win it, but its been a great ride with GC this season, especially considering that we would have been in the Challenge League were it not for Sion and Xamax. LL
GCZ - Basel 1-0 http://www.srf.ch/sport/fussball/super-league/fcb-bleibt-trotz-rueckschlaegen-siegessicher FCSG - Servette 4-1 http://www.srf.ch/sport/fussball/super-league/st-gallen-laesst-servette-keine-chance YB - FCZ 2-4 http://www.srf.ch/sport/fussball/super-league/fcz-in-der-europa-league-yb-wohl-kaum LS - Luzern 3-0 http://www.srf.ch/sport/fussball/super-league/lausannes-wichtiger-sieg-im-abstiegskampf Sion - Thun 0-1 http://www.srf.ch/sport/fussball/super-league/thun-im-hoch-sion-im-sturzflug Great match in Zurich this weekend. Streller looks for the assist instead of the goal, then the counter and GCZ wins it. Basel still up by three, but to beat Basel twice in one week is amazing for GCZ. And as Lager Lout said none of it would have been possible without Xamax and Sion last season. Worst possible weekend for Servette. With the LS win, and Servette loss, Servette must win both of their last two matches, and LS loose both of the matches for Servette to avoid relegation. FCZ solidified a Europa League birth and Thun is getting close to the last one. Basel - 66 +28 GCZ - 63 +12 FCSG - 59 +20 FCZ - 52 +14 Thun - 47 +0 Sion - 45 -14 YB - 42 -1 Luzern - 36 -14 LS - 30 - 19 Servette - 26 -26 Basel plays @ YB and Home to FCSG. They need 4 points to guarentee the title, they should get this. Champions League again for Basel. GCZ plays @ FCSG and home to LS. They need at least 4 points, if Basel loses both matches, but realisitically they need 6 points, plus help from FCSG or YB to have a chance at the title. Champions League should be in the cards for them next season. FCSG is guarenteed the 2nd or 3rd spot. If GCZ were to lose both of their matches, and FCSG got 4 or 6 points, they would be second place. FCSG has vs GCZ and @ Basel. If they managed 6 points out of that, they would deserved 2nd place. But they need GCZ to lose both matches to have a chance. I really do not see that happening. Looks like the Europa League for them. FCZ has vs Thun and @ Sion. They have already locked up a Europa League spot locked up, the question is which round will they enter. The can not catch FCSG, so 3rd place is out, Thun could catch them, so 5th place is possible. Thun is 5 points back, so if FCSG gets one point from either of their matches, the get 4th place and the later entry into the Europa League. Thun has @ FCZ and vs YB. Europa League and 5th place are not guarentees yet, but no team has had a better spring round than them. With two points ahead on Sion, and 14 goals ahead in case of similar points, they just need to keep doing what they have been and they should be fine. Sion has at Luzern and home to FCZ. Their free fall was checked a little with a 0-1 loss to Thun, but with only just over 8k showing up for a free match with European implications shows how the city of Sion has become very frustrated with the team and CC in general. It is still possible to qualify for the Europa League, but their recent form does not give a lot of confidence. YB has at Basel and at Thun. They could still possible qualify for the Europa League, but it woudl require Thun and Sion to not win any of their last matches. On top of that, YB would need to win both. It looks like either 6th or 7th for the boys in yellow from Bern. Luzern has vs Sion and @ Servette. Both winnable matches, but with the only change possible for Luzern is from 8th to 7th, and that is if YB loses both matches, and Luzern wins, not a whole lot to play for. LS vs Servette and @ GCZ. If LS gets a point from the match vs Servette, they are saved. It comes down to that. Even a Servette win does not end the Super League adventure for them. ?Wednesday should be very interesting. Servette @ LS and vs Luzern. It comes down to this. They must win both matches. The LS match is a possibility, and the final match against Luzern is one where Luzern will have nothing to play for except to relegate Servette. Too many missed opportunities for Servette this season. As much as I am an optimist, I forsee Servette in the Challenge League next season. I would love to be proven wrong though. An exciting finish. Each match on wednesday has bearing on something.
Servette's schedule for next season: ACB Winterthur Biel-Bienne Wohlen Lugano Vaduz Chiasso Wil FC Schaffhausen
Besle earned his 2nd yellow for FCSG, they are now down to 10 men in the 38' min. PK for GCZ, goal 1-1.
FCSG - GCZ 1-2 playing a man down is too much against GCZ YB - FC Basel 0-1 Basel gets a very weak PK. FCZ - Thun 1-0.
FCZ - Thun 2-0 LS - Servette 3-0 Luzern - Sion 2-0 FCSG-GCZ 1-2 YB - Basel 0-1 Lots of things were decided yesterday. The only way that GCZ wins the championship is a +16 goal differential in the last match. Servette is going down, I imagine that there will be quite a turnover next season with the squad. Also, I am willing to be that the results will come back from their license as negative while LS will get there license. Too many missed opportunities is close matches. I think that the PK for Basel was a very weak one. Great turn around GCZ. The only thing left to decide is the 3rd Europa League spot. Sion must win against FC Zurich and Thun must be defeated at home in the local derby against YB for that to happen. Basel 69 GCZ 66 FCSG 59 FCZ 55 Thun 47 Sion 45 YB 42 Luzern 39 LS 33 Servette 26 Here is where the teams would go in Europe: Basel - 3rd Qualifying round GCZ - 3rd Qualifying round FCSG - Play-off round of the Europa League FCZ - 3rd Qualifying round Thun/Sion- 2nd Qualifying Round 1 June Basel - FCSG GCZ - LS Servette - Luzern Sion - FCZ Thun - YB Most of the placements are fixed, I can see a real small crowd at Sion and Servette for this final round.
