Absolutely. The schedule adjusted table is less useful as you get to the end, but check this out. Dynamo would almost certainly get a home-field-advantage spot if they win 4 of their last seven. Just win their home games and their golden. (last nights results) STL 5 ======= HOU 0 MNU -2 (-2) LAFC -2 (0 - lost road game) ------------- RSL -2 SEA -4 VCW -4 ------------ FCD -5 SJE -5 (+1) ====== ATX -6 LAG -7 POT -9 (0, won home game, 0 is max possible) SKC -10 (0, lost road game, only 2 left, so -4 is max possible) COR -17
I'm assuming Hadebe didn't have to be rostered while he was on the injury list which opened up his international slot until it was filled by Kowalcyzk. Since nobody made an offer on Coco, no international slot opened up so they needed one to activate Hadebe now.
i don't get the math for the "hadebe" theory. my count off the website is 12 internationals. but that includes van der kust, so should be 11. achara injury, and old sebas/auguste loaned, 8. already including hadebe. had 7 slots due to the dumb permanent trade. trade for slot for newsebas, 8. people forget that trade? why do i need a 9th for hadebe? he's part of the 8 count...... either the theory is wrong or we are still carrying around one of the people i listed in the first paragraph like a bad fruitcake on our roster. in which case we should have needed a slot back in august. hadebe was an active player this season. i didn't know MLS had an "IR" you could come back from. i thought you had to declare a season ending injury which i think we already have. it's not like hadebe was our asset but an unregistered player for the roster this season because he didn't get out of preseason. he's been used. he should still be counting. if you remember last year they made us drop pasher under similar circumstances. and it wasn't in mid-september. august 5th. bears noting, and i thought this was already past -- roster freeze is tomorrow. if my math is right then it is possible we sign someone international next 2 days. that however could include just upgrading a farmhand.
fwiw cohen and cannon remain out of contract. but they wouldn't require a slot. cannon i think the risk is boavista might sue.
given the transfer window, it would have to be either an expired contract foreign player or an internal. assuming we aren't sweeping up a roster slot mess to play hadebe.
anyone have a good sense on what the real timeline for Teenage to be back? I know he's been farting around with D2 but any word on how rehab has gone & ETA to get back to the varsity team?
Yes. And it was to bring Teenage back into the squad https://x.com/asherhdfc/status/1702533843771605496?s=20
The Athletic had an article on all the DPs per team today. Here is the bit on Houston. "fourth-fewest minutes from DPs this year" I would note that Atlanta is outside the top-4, TFC is dead last (with huge DPs). STL storms the league with just a GK DP. I can make a strong case that DPs are not a big component of winning. I can also make a case that Burki is big for STL, HH for HOU, SEA, LAFC, Arongo with RSL, Acosta, Muhktar. While teams that go DP heavy seem to struggle, a DP seems still important to most succesful teams.
I was thinking that just now during lunch break, thinking on the away leg tonight! I really do hope he is doing ok these days. His absence during our club's playoff run is glaring all thinks considered.
Morning Footy has a segment on Panama and Coco today: So, I've been noodling on Coco's somewhat lower form in the playoffs. I think a lot of that has to do with RSL's scheme, but some Coco made more clear mistakes than we are used to seeing and failed to capitalize on some opportunities. A few more wayword passes. No way for us to know anything, but I wonder if this international break has been on his mind. He clearly shoulders a big load for Panama and it means a lot to him. He would not be the first player to see a dip in mental focus in MLS as a major international tournament approaches. This home/away with Costa Rica for a spot in Copa America next year has got to be a very big deal for Panama (and Costa Rica). A good Copa America could do for Coco what the Gold Cup apparently failed to do -- generate significant interest from Europe. Also, I did not know that Panama was experiencing some political/social turmoil. Who knows whether Coco has friends and family potentially at risk. That could definitely distract a player. Good luck to Coco tonight in the Dragon's Lair that is Estadio Saprissa.
