Rooney winning the young player award is a given, but I don't think he'll win the other award. Of course the three Chelsea players could split the vote. Even then, Henry is pretty good.

I think it's very likely he could win the main award. I mean he is in double digits in both goals and assists. By the end he may be above 15 in both categories. Especially if we finish close (or above. ;)) Chelsea by then. Well.. I don't know when this is decided, but still.

Clearly Gerrard and Cole are on the list just to reach the needed six.

No Ruud? That's pretty poor. Regardless, the winners should be Rooney and Bent.

I hope the winners would be Rooney, and little Rio.

However, Rooney's presence in both categories complicates thing. His vote could get split strangely and he could take neither (or both -- has that ever happened?) I think he is hands-down the player of the year though, despite dips in form during the season. How scary is that, imagine if he can iron out consistent form . . .

I think the next few weeks will be a determining factor.

I'd go J.Cole or Rooney for the main award and Bent for the young player.

Personally the main aware could be split between Joe Cole, Rooney, and Henry, and the young player of the year will go to Rooney with Darren Bent not to far behind.

Could Rooney win both awards? Is that allowed?

Its a bloody farce. Joe Cole isn't even a guaranteed starter. Ruud is a top scorer and should be there.

I wouldn't give Rooney POTY though... YPOTY for sure, but not the senior award. Henry for me from that list.

Joe Cole IMO was better than Lampard throughout this season.

If Henry were good enough to be POTY, he would have started against us... :p ;)

Edit: And Ruud isn't a guaranteed starter either. :(

Is there any reason why there aren't any keepers on these lists? Do they have their own award or something?

I also don't like how these awards always focus on attack minded players. There is only one defender on each list.

Joe Cole has been a guaranteed starter this season and in my opinion Chelsea's best player. He's been far more important to the team than Lampard or Terry. Ruud has been fantastic for us this season but hasn't been exactly our most important player, yea I know what you're going to reply with "he score this many goals, are you telling me that's not important?" But in all fairness, I can see why he wasn't nominated, every player nominated is more important to their respective clubs than Ruud for us this season.

I don't agree. Lampard has faded, but Cole has never been at the level Lampard was at earlier on. If only one deserves to be on the list its Lampard imo who has been substandard for about 4weeks or so.

Chelsea fans will tell you that over the stretch of the season Joe Cole has been their best overall player. But dont go over their and ask them, for He who cant be named will start something.

Well, Cole hasn't been central to what Chelsea have done and Chelsea have faltered when Lampard has fallen out of form, not Cole.

Why does no-one think that Fabregas will win the YPOTY? I think he deserves it as much as Rooney and moreso than Bent. Fabregas started the season OK, but then got stronger as time went on, and he's been instrumental in Arsenal's reaching of the semis of the CL. In Bent's case, he started amazingly, scoring goals for fun but as time has gone on, he's disappointed when it matters most.

    Henry and Fabregas for me.

A serious question: Do the voters care what the players did outside the Prem?
