I wouldn't fancy setting up a barbeque in a car park full of Millwall fans! Not unless I expected one of my bangers shoved up my **** :-D
Very interesting that its Brighton we played. GP calling up his old boss to arrange it I would assume, meaning they must be on very good terms still. Not something we see very often with former clubs and managers. Says something about the guy I think...
Maybe maybe not. Time will tell if he’s the right guy but on the surface it looks like ownership made a mistake.
Tuchel’s track record, the purchases they just made, the fact that they were discussing a contract extension 2 weeks prior to his sacking.
I don't think they should have been so quick to 'pull the trigger' but do you think the decision was made because over a period of 9 months the performances were getting worse? This season the performances have been dire and the entertainment value has been non existent, in fact I haven't enjoyed watching Chelsea less than this season since the 1980's!! The performances have been sub-standard for almost a year, however Tuchell deserved so much more! Club is all too quick in pulling the plug! However now he has been fired then Potter is as good a replacement as any isn't he? He is getting a LOT of plaudits from people in the game isn't he?
Yes of course it will but I am wondering why Dtrip and (I think) yourself are so convinced that he is a bad acquisition when so far every job he's had has been a rounding success?
I’m not saying he’s bad. I’m saying Tuchel was a mistake. As far as Potter, he’s a gamble. He’s taking a large step up from Brighton to a club like ours. Expectations, ego and reality of a club like ours is on a whole other level then he’s ever experienced.
I really have a difficult time understanding this take based on TT"s track record. He is by all accounts a difficult personality to deal with, and he almost always wears out his welcome in a 2 year window. He hasn't had the team winning and/or playing beautiful footie for over a season now. Chelsea may have some holes, but they have enough talented pieces to field better than the dross we have been watching week after week. It is clear the new ownership wants to build a different culture than what TT would ever be willing to accept. Might as well cut ties now, and find a coach that shares the same vision for the club as the new ownership. Had he been winning it might have delayed the inevitable, but the fact the team has gotten off to such a tepid start, made it a case of no time like the present. I hope we see a much more attacking Chelsea after the break. I was really tired of Tuchel ball, and it did not look as if he was considering any real formation or tactical changes despite the results.
I think we all agree about that, we probably all agree the same thing concerning many of our managers over the last 20 years or so - I mean why the hell did we get rid of Ancelotti!? Fact is though that now he has gone I don't think we could have done much better than Potter as a replacement - he has a VERY high reputation within the game, of course that doesn't mean that he will definitely succeed here, just like our last 8 or so no. 9's he might come with a big reputation and end up stinking the place out! The football we've been served up over the last 9 months or so has been turgid, if nothing else lets hope we start getting entertained!
I would have given Toosh a longer leash but why the hate for GP? Gotta give him a chance at least right?
Chelsea have sacked commercial director Damian Willoughby after he sent "inappropriate messages" to a female football finance agent. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/62980647 He didn't last very long. Sporting Director? Tim Steidten?
