Rodrigo Soria Age: 22 (born Buenos Aries) Height/Weight: 5-10/160 Position: attacking MF Club 2006-9: Quilmes Atlético Club (Argentine Primera B Nacional) 2008 (?): Club Estudiantes de La Plata (*Note: Soria "took some time away from football" in '08-'09 due to injury--before recently returning to train w/ Quilmes)
The spanish part was interesting. So we have already seen him and we like him? And they are coming down to talk to him, sounds more like an offer rather than a trail.
Garth likes to "interview" the players prior to bringing them on trial. Could this be referring to an interview?
Right. I'm a bit cautious about this one. By all accounts, Soria's recovery has been slow. Is this just one of several such casual "interviews" Garth has lined up in S. America? That's my early suspicion.
That could be but the player is quoted as saying they have already seen him play and are coming down to talk to him, so "it might happen" in his own words. I don't think he would say it might happen to a trial but I could be wrong.
Yes. You could be as 15 to 32 has not yet tested his right nut that I have cut off for genetic testing.
It depends on what he means by "saw him play". Could this have been from a DVD? Last year I sat down with Garth and he told me this was the process: I have since learned that all players are interviewed to determine their interest level, expectations, personality, etc. Garth also mentioned that they may see the player live in a game, but they will almost always bring the player on trial for at least a week, preferably two prior to offering a contract.
I think he's been on a "fitness watch". If he ends up going to Charleston it'll be a good indicator that they are happy with his progress, and that he may end up being signed. We should find out who's going to Charleston sometime early next week.
