"The convoy will leave Denver on Friday, November 7th and return on Sunday the 9th." Is anyone here doing this? I'm thinking about driving. Mapquest says a little less then 10 hours. Will it really be a convoy? Will I need a CB Radidio
Re: what is the deal with this! Will he be wearing his costume the whole way? If so I'll drive him there just to pass people and see their reactions.
Trip Man, I wished I lived out there! The trip from Denver to Kansas is one I have made a ton of times. I am so nostalgic for the open road and the strange places you pass along the way. Make sure you and Rapidman stop and see the huge prairie dog and get some food at the crappy little diners along the way. GOOD TIMES Oh, and scream a little for me!
Rapids fans: Any of you visiting for the game Saturday are more than welcome to come to the Mystics tailgate. Its usually up and going by 4:30 and we head into the stadium around 6:30. It is in parking lot B5, we're the only people in that lot. The rest of the parking is in lot C. Its $5 all you can eat and BYOB. Have a safe trip, and a sad trip home.
"Any of you visiting for the game Saturday are more than welcome to come to the Mystics tailgate" What's on the menu?
Usually burgers, brats, chicken, etc grilled on our big ass grill. Keep an eye on the Wizards boards for a thread about it, and I'll also try to post over here about when I hear.
If you want to use the tires on your vehicle for a return trip on Sunday, I'd recommend NOT painting "Go Rapids!" (etc.) on your windshields. I know a good tire store recommendation that will fix slashed tires if you need a recommendation.
For what it's worth, I know the idiot who slashed the van's tires and I can assure you that he lives in Florida and is no longer welcome at Arrowhead...
Tailgate Menu: https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=80981 On the menu: Soup -- Homemade chicken soup with wild rice Meats -- Cheddarwurst with buns and mustard Chicken quarters (probably cut this time) I think I've ironed out the cooking time problems involved in the chicken last time; the soup will be made in advance and warmed over the grill. Drink -- It's too cold for soda. What it's not too cold for is warmed apple cider. Mmm...apple cider. Not bad for five bucks if you ask me. And no one will slash your tires.
I will be making the drive to KC, is anybody leaving Friday? If so from where and when. I'm taking a van with 4 people. Probably have a spot for 2 more if somebody needs a ride. GO RAPIDS!!!!!!
It looks like I'm going, leaving sometime between 3 and 4 and staying in Salina tonight and tomorrow night (to avoid extended driving. I don't have tickets yet and haven't decided if I we were going to sit in the Rapids section or just get the best seats, does anyone know where it is? I may call the Wizards office.
FYI, 25 guys from the "wackos" fan section (guys who normally sit in Section 127) will be leaving Sat. morning at 6am in a van with RapidMan. We are sending out the "Good Luck Rapids" banner with them (you may have seen it during introductions at the game on Tuesday, it's about 10 foot by 20 foot long) for them to hang off the stands at Arrowhead, so look for them! Good Luck!
Another FYI, we have just received word from the Wizards that they will not issue RapidMan a credential for the game (nor even let him in the stadium in costume); in their words, they are worried about "liability and competitive advantage". One more reason to be loud and rowdy in the stands....
Who knows the good areas of town or bars to hit in KC? I also hear there's some sort of riverboat casinos in town???
I don't know about KC, but in Lawrence, the Massachusetts Street area has kind of an Old Town, FTC feel.
