Not sure the Cheez-Its inventor was so lucky.

 

I used to put Concord Grape Pop-Tarts in the oven with a bit of butter on top. We mostly did toast in the oven as well, because it's easier to get the butter to melt into the bread if it's applied before the heat- you're putting butter on bread, not on toast.

 

A guy on my dorm floor-- x-country runner -- used to open a pack of pop-tarts and make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich out of it. That was his preferred bedtime snack.

 

Wait, do you mean he added PB to the tarts as they were, or he broke them up, scooped out the jelly and put that plus PB on separate bread?

 

As the were. PB on the non-frosted side, then jelly. Put it together as a sandwich. Dig in.

We thought it was odd, by the way. But he had the kind of metabolism where the added calories were a good idea.

 

We used to call that a stoner sandwich. Incidentally, I ran college cross country.
