As long as you have a deathbed confession at the last minute, you can punch your ticket, no matter how horrible a person you were.
Well, that's the gift the Christian god offers. But God is looking not for confession, but for repentance.
Does this ghoul have one redeeming quality? That is a hard question to respond.... Kissinger at 100: How his ‘sordid’ diplomacy in Africa fuelled war in Angola and prolonged apartheid Historians say the involvement in Africa of the former US secretary of state, who is 100 this week, drew the US into Angola’s war and aided apartheid after the Soweto uprising https://www.theguardian.com/global-...genius-or-damaging-diplomacy-held-back-africa
Yeah, the problem is that people like that have a belief that they are doing the right thing and to them the cost in lives and suffering is justified. I’m sure Videla and Pinochet also died without regrets. As did Santucho and Che Guevara. Well, maybe at the very end Che might have regretted going to Bolivia.
Is that what your minister told you? Cuz as a Christian, I can tell you, that would be a unique theological perspective. God doesn’t play Pascal’s wager or its variants. You can’t outsmart God by soaking. In fact, that’s a pretty basic rule…if God exists, It is smarter than you are, so if you’re not fooled, It won’t be fooled either.
Messing with you mate. Having said that, this morning I was watching Kissinger old footage, commenting and basically admitting how the US could not tolerate a "communist" government in Chile and had to do something about it. We had that convo a couple of months ago.
The Chattering Class all love him. Andrea Mitchell had some chode from the Atlantic Council on along with former rep. Jane Harman who were both kissing his ass. "he didn't mind the exposes written regularly about him since he said it kept him in the limelight" Harman - "really sad (he was a friggin 100, lady!). Great intellect and as you may have heard, quite a flirt" Where's the barf bag.
I am not turning my TV on anything close news today. Andrea Mitchell as a journo is way past her sell by dates. She is useless...
I'm always fascinated by that perspective (not that it isn't true in its basic sense, of course, but to a believer of flawed logic it's gonna be as true on a deathbed as good logic!) But, that said, the other point of view-- for my agnostic perspective it (God is wayy smarter and knows what you know) has always been the ultimate get-out of trouble card. Basically, how can a God have expected me to pick a variant of either worship or even caring about the idea of worship when God knows full well that any rationality must posit the "I can't know the truth amid any of this, or know any sure way to pick among all these competing claims." (The key here, I think, is to understand that in bygone times when religions were forming most people weren't aware of competing claims.) This rationale then begs the more often than not overlooked question, of, given that, why would I want to know, if I am not being told clearly by God about God? God must know that as a matter of free mind biology, I don;t care, and that he created this free mind. Not me. Many humans feel that longing to know God. I don't. So - why would I want or need to, when there is no actual directive that is not contradicted by another to follow? Which produces this fact: God will know what I think, if God be; this is my truth, even if I am smirking happily to myself about it being so. Smirking that the selection method of how I should know how to differentiate (amid the logic that the practical historical "how to worship" derives mainly from geography and sociology), and so, as an easy to find absolute knowledge, simply does not nor ever has, existed; and as such, has not been shown to me by God. So, how (and why, which I don't know either) can God reasonably expect anything of me in the way of worship? God is smart enough to know that. He must also know that I am only using the sense he gave me to understand this. Where's the beef?
And the WaPo...ugh. https://www.washingtonpost.com/history/2023/11/29/henry-kissinger-dies-dating-life-playboy/ The surprising dating life of Henry Kissinger, a West Wing ‘playboy’
I wonder.... News World News FANGS FROM THE DARK Disturbing pictures of ‘shapeshifter’ revealed after farmer spots man who ‘got powers from aliens morphing into beast’ Many were skeptical about the existence of the creature, even with a photo being taken Cheyenne R. Understand. I'll post snippets if you are interested in his dating life. But I put it here more to roll my eyes at the WaPo.
Yet she's still there mumbling along & Mehdi Hasan gets the boot The fact that @MSNBC canceled Mehdi Hasan's show while the absolutely horrible Andrea Mitchell is still employed there is proof that they are not listening to their audience. You may disagree with some of Medhi Hasan's positions, but you cannot disagree that he always came… pic.twitter.com/QSyRa98apv— BrooklynDad_Defiant!☮️ (@mmpadellan) November 30, 2023
I do it out of morbid curiosity to see how different hosts treat him. As Mrs. Alan Greenspan and a DC lifer, I expected nothing less from Andrea. She is putrid at this point even on "The Radical Left's" TV station
