One week left till the start of the biggest sport event. Bosnians have 11 athletes in Brazil: Track and road events: Amel Tuka Field events: Hamza Alic, Kemal Mesic, Mesud Pezer, Lucija Kimani Judo: Larisa Ceric Shooting: Tatjana Dekanovic Swimming: Mihajlo Ceprkalo, Amina Katjaz Tennis: Mirza Basic, Damir Dzumhur Sticky @Sudžuka
Tuka gives us a legitimate shot at a medal. He finished with a bronze medal at the World Championships last year in his event. Also Džumhur should be fun to follow, hopefully he makes a nice run.

Sad when you consider he went all the way to the IOC Session in Copenhagen when they were announcing that Rio would host the Olympics. #Pelé has written to #Rio2016 organising committee saying he cannot light the Olympic flame at the opening ceremony due to physical frailty— Sky News Breaking (@SkyNewsBreak) August 5, 2016
Apparently someone shouted anti muslim stuff at Dzumhur during his match today. He refused to play and his father nearly got into a fight with someone in the stands.
Kosovo wins a Olympic medal in their first ever Olympics. Which is already more than Bosnia won in their entire history Kosovo nakon tri dana kao olimpijska zemlja ima medalju. Mi još pričamo da je situacija teška, bio rat, infrastruktura loša...— Saša Ibrulj (@sasaibrulj) August 7, 2016
The only sport I've watched consistently thus far is Handball. Brazil beat Germany yesterday, which was a surprise. There was also a great Croatia-Argentina match that went down to the last second, with Croatia winning it with a penalty.
Serbia has three teams in the gold medal game: basketball, women's volleyball, water polo. Croatia has 5 gold medals already, one behind Spain and Brazil. Kosovo won a gold medal on the first weekend of its first ever Olympics. Our greatest athlete couldn't even qualify for the final, and our biggest story was a cute swimmer.
Pathetic 7 Olympics games not even one medal. What the hell is wrong -oh including 6 winter games still no medals LoL
You can't explain it away. As someone posted above, we can't use the war and the facilities excuse. Plenty of countries that have gone through turmoil and deal with terrible facilities produce good athletes. I'm not expecting us to beat the Kenyans in long distance running or the Jamaicans in short distances, but there are plenty of sports where particular physical attributes don't matter and where you don't have to have world class facilities. Judo? Weightlifting? High jump? Shooting? Wrestling? Anything! We can't produce a world class athlete that can win a damn medal. Not even the diaspora can produce anything. It's pathetic. And we usually send like 10 athletes to the games.
Maybe Bosnians aren't athletic? We aren't really that great at any sport when you think about it. Plus we don't even have any Bosnian American diaspora in any sports here. And you have all the facilities you can get here.
.Its all mentality guys,Croats and Serbs especially from their capitals have a very different mentality than people from Sarajevo. It was like this during Yugoslavia also and its carried over. Our women arnt as unique as Croat or Serbian I find all Bosnian generally have the same beliefs and Politics its rare to find someone who thinks differently this carries over to sports. So soccer is basically it and if your tall basketball probably(if your city even has any basketball hoops besides ones at school) It also seems like most of our population is rural so perhaps no clubs for certain sports. I think most of this single player sports like takwondo ,wrestling ,shooting is taught by the parent to the child i dont think a kid goes out and randomly decides i want to dedicate my time to wrestling its usually introduced by the parent.
