two Italian clubs wanted him in January... 👀— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) June 28, 2021 Born: January 9, 2003 El Paso, TX Height: 6′ 1″ Current team: FC Dallas (#16 / Forward)
Pepi is probably the #2 player at his position in his birth year behind Cowell, but he’s good enough to have Fabrizio Romano’s attention. The tide has turned so quickly since 2017, it’s almost impossible to believe.
I watched a little bit of the game last night. I then went on Wiki to look up Ricardo Pepi because I hadn’t heard of him. I was shocked to read that he is 18 and American. Looked really good out there against Chicago. I am not surprised that he is garnering interest of clubs in Europe.
Profile from Italian press: https://gianlucadimarzio.com/it/ricardo-pepi-dallas-chi-e-25-luglio-2021 First Weston McKennie , then Bryan Reynolds , then who knows who else, maybe just Ricardo Pepi : the city of Dallas and more generally the USA are becoming a real source of talent year after year. We are talking about an atypical central point , 1.85m tall, he is a dynamic guy, who knows how to be ready in the construction phase. It is a great finalizer . In addition, he is fast and very good at unmarking, almost slipping between opponents. This makes the boy absolutely formidable in the open field . In addition, Pepi participates a lot in the action and finalizes it when he is in a position to do so.
too bad for bayern that they don’t have a salzburg equivalent because pepi certainly plays an awful lot like a poor mans lewandowski as an 18yo
Rumored interest from Bologna: https://www.tuttomercatoweb.com/ser...di-dallas-contatti-in-corso-le-ultime-1563763
I'd like to hear an Italian commentator, pronounce his name. Definitely would consider buying a Pepi, Serie A, jersey.
...and Pepi will be mentioned as one who chose to play for Mexico. He's a good player. It's nice that he got to graduate from high school and get a hat trick before he transfers to Italy and makes a one-time switch to Mexico.
who knows! stay tuned! if so kind of amazing that by 2026 el tri will rely if not 50% close to it on usa led player development. shocking indictment tbh
..and maybe some day again Mexico will develop their own players instead of relying on their neighbor where the sport is the fifth most popular. Mexico is becoming to the US what the US was to Germany. How far the mighty have fallen!
This player is special. Hi recent goals in MLS have been very high quality. he has that "it" quality a striker needs.... Hopefully he stays with the USMNT and isn't lured by Tata and Mexico - I've heard rumors Tata is going after him hard.
The cost of Ricardo Pepi could exceed 10 million euros. An transfer fee that is not ideal for Bologna at the moment. pic.twitter.com/y4ZOcVeXPW— USMNT Universe (@UsmntU) July 27, 2021 10m asking price is apparently too much for Bologna *his 2021 salary of 100k seems low, in comparison https://mlsplayers.org/resources/salary-guide MLS asking for 100x salary??? At some point, something has to give, imo anyone can explain for me???
What does the ratio of his salary to cost have to do with anything? If they were paying him 30 cents a game that wouldn't lower his price. He's on a starter deal for a homegrown, which is why his salary is low. What really matters is his production and the years left on his contract. He's a goal scorer, so his price will be higher, and if you can find me another player playing at as high of a level with as many goals at as young an age who costs less, be my guest*. *I'm actually very interested in this information, so this is my way to get someone else to do this research instead of me
cant help but feel you are intentionally missing the point here since its fairly obvious that contracts signed as teenagers have no bearing on transfer valuations year(s) later. also fcd transferred a rb for over 7 million, a younger highly productive already forward going for 10 hardly seems astounding
it just strikes me as odd that MLS would demand 100times more than they are paying a player. I agree that Pepi is probably good enough to demand at least 10 mil on the open market. But then when I talk about MLS valuation and how much players are worth....its always the other way around. If americans were so good they would be valued higher and make more moeny. To me, it is evidence that MLS supresses salaries. If I was Bologna I would laugh. they probably made their offer based on some multiple of Pepi's Salary. Erling Halaand makes 8 million and his rumored transfer is set at about 150-180m euro....so about 20 times salary, for reference. I doubt you will find many examples on the world market of transfer fees being 100x or more of salary. Every time I mention how MLS SUPRESSES salary I ALWAYS get pushback. This is evidence. Overall, it is evidence that the agents these MLS players have are garbage, too.
adam tash is a prophet We have signed Homegrown Ricardo Pepi to a new, five-year contract through 2026.— FC Dallas (@FCDallas) July 27, 2021
