It's time for the "Coaches Really Matter" Bowl! Both the Revs and Rapids have seen a dramatic turnaround from a coaching change, and while I'm always ready to underrate Colorado, they did beat LAFC, one of the few to do so. So this should be a good match. For the Revs, questions at striker, as always. Nostalgie de la Bou, anyone?
Well now... https://matchcenter.mlssoccer.com/m...lorado-rapids-vs-new-england-revolution/recap Three and a half hours of weather delays, travel and altitude. Previous editions of the Revs would have had plenty of excuses to lose this one, but they grind out a win. Bunbury scores his 50th MLS goal. Well done to the boys in blue (shorts)! And then there was this gem: 1147013944122494977 is not a valid tweet id
In other news, Luciano Acosta got a red card (second yellow, for dissent) and will miss the game against the Revs next Friday.
Revs are now tied with Toronto for the 7th and final playoff spot in the East. Toronto wins the tie-breaker (GD) -3 to -14. Bruce now has 2 road wins, which matches Brad's entire tenure.
Revs showing much better ball movement. Bruce seems to have gotten them out of the fear of making a turnover that seemed to paralyze their off the ball movement and their one and two touch passing under Freidel. As a result, they are getting caught in possession less and turning the ball over less. When they do turn it over they seem to have a better idea what to do so that it was rare for the CRapids to have a clean look at goal. There is still a lot to improve, but, as was said, that was a game the Revs would have found several ways to lose in the past. A step forward.
I have to agree. • Again, if anyone personifies the Rev turnaround, it's Bunbury, scoring another really pretty goal. Agudelo is the second most transformed. • I hope the powers that be are thinking hard about what it will take to keep Gil happy. • I'm liking the back line more and more. Despite Bye falling asleep on the Colorado goal, I think he has really justified the coaches' belief in him. • That was one of Castillo's better games. I'm still not sold on him. • Does Penilla have no left foot at all? • Really not sold on Zahibo. I don't think being a midfield destroyer without being able to pass or shoot is enough to start. • I can't recall watching a player as dislikable as that bitchy, diving little whiner Rubio in some time.
Zahibo is like Michael Bradley except a less good passer. He is slow, doesnt close down well, and not good at tackling. He does have some skills, but needs a 2nd #6 to play next to him to be effective, at which point you may as well play another attacker. Colorado, whose plan for most of the game involved skipping the midfield, was a perfect opponent to play Zahibo against, but even then he just isnt that good
Solid 3 points on the road. Agree with others - Friedel's revs would have found a way to drop the points. Nice to see they're developing the ability to close out games especially on the road. They still have work to do but so nice definitelyto tivesee signstheyve now got the same record as one of the league's darlings TFC. Just need to grab points against the east to continue making progress.
Watched it on dvr. Very good performance by the Revo. Without the weather delays it would have been a blowout.
