FWIW, thought of this today when I learned that the City of Chicago is closing in on a deal with DePaul University to build a 15,000-seat basketball arena just north of McCormick Place, which is the Windy City's version of the BCEC. Already talk of a "sky bridge" that'll connect the exhibition hall and the basketball arena. City is putting up $100 million and assisting with land acquisition, the school is covering the rest. So now there's precedent.
I believe the rationalization is that the arena will help Chicago attract larger/more conventions and that the arena will be an anchor for the revitalization of the South Loop. If it works, $100 million will be a bargain.
And Freetown, MA decides to take part in silly season: http://www.tauntongazette.com/news/...t-of-early-suitors-for-New-England-Revolution
Well, Bristol County is the only county in the entire US where the majority ethnic group is Portuguese
Well, it's no surprise that real "news" has died down. I fully expect some sort of "report" either at MLS cup or directly after to drive up some ticket sales and generate interest. Then, come December 26th, this "news" will die off completely until next September, when the marketing and sales department is trying to come up with a "new campaign" for the 2014 season.
They sleep for the entire offseason..Wake up temporarily before the start of season. Then dumb down their efforts with absolutely amateurish tweets and incredibly bad taste promotions for ticket sales during. Then some rustling of papers and keyboards begin typing away at a new hype about some magical stadium that will drag the team out of the doldrums to the promised land of "atmosphere and soccer only venue"(MY ASS..when some college dangles a little carrot for Krafty we'll be seeing gridiron lines just like lowly BBVA and Frisco stadium) Joke of monumental proportions..played on Soccer Fans in the Boston area who clamor at the slightest mention of a SSS...like me!
