we haven't lost to these guys since sept 05 a 5-4 result in NY).

    from revs site
Albright is back. No news on Rally or TnT (or others) yet.

RB's d is pretty weak and we saw Seattle tear apart their mid.Hopefully we can do the same.

What's the number going down to match for us?

Actually, we lost to them 1-0 in the first leg of the playoffs that year.

Same lineup as in San Jose with Alston on the left is what I think we'll see.

If I was Nicol I'd go with my Best 11

    Dube Mansally
    Albright Joseph Larentowicz Nyassi
    Tierney Barnes Heaps Alston

OK, I know, it will never happen, so sadly, it will be:

    Dube Mansally
    Thompson Joseph Larentowicz Nyassi
    Albright Barnes Heaps Alston.

I just don't see how you sit Alston after that opening game.

Why would you take a player out of his best position when someone else can play the left side? Albright will start on the left, not Alston.

hmm... i think i'd rather put tierney in the left middie spot than albright, because a. tierney's crosses are better imo and b. albright is a better defender.

I would agree with this. Minimal change is usually better, especially when things aren't exactly 'broken.' Putting Albright on the left might be even better, thereby displacing only one player.

I had assumed Albright was a lock and that would be why Alston was moving to the left, though I'll give you the benefit of the doubt as I actually didn't type it...

Steve, since when has Albright played on the left? Not doubting it, I've just never seen him on that side for any team.

Albright is a veteran and can make the transition better then a rookie, especially since Alston had trouble at the combine with playing on the left side.

I'd definatly go with option 2. Teirney looks to be more of a liability at back that Wells in the midfield, or put teirney in the midfield, he looked good the one time he got forward last week.

Alston on the right would be sweet just to see him shut down Kahnooooooo

    Re: revs @ redbul/ 5/28 pregame thread

I think this will be another ugly match due to the city street quality of the RB field. Calibrating passes is at best difficult on that damn field.

Both teams have speedy players so I expect a fast pace game with both teams struggling to control the ball.

As always midfield play will be key to controlling the match. I wouldn't count on the Bulls being as weak in the midfield as they seemed to be last weekend.
Unless the field is wet and slick I don't expect to see the Revs playing Rt1 soccer but rather working the ball which is more their style. Calibrating the field will be the limiting factor.

I would expect to see Albright in the lineup but would not be shocked if Nicol starts the same 11 as last week since he tends to reward a winning side. My guess is Both Alston and Albright start and Tierney sits.

I see the Revs coming away with a point.

Not sure about that, Alston, from what I recall, played alot of Left side D in college. I would not go by one game at the combo. From the Revs site "naturally right-footed, but plays primarily on the left side in the back" From the Ohio ST web site "Started all 24 games at left back....named Defensive MVP and to the All-Tournament Team at the adidas/IU Credit Union Classic ... named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 1 for his work against Duke and Akron ... also named to the College Soccer News Team of the Week on Sept. 1 ... named to the Soccer America, College Soccer News and Top Drawer Soccer Teams of the Week on Oct. 20 for his performance against Notre Dame".
As far as I know Albright has never played there.

Playing Alston on the right and Albright on the left against RB makes little sense to me.

First, Alston played LB in school (as has been said in this thread) so its not like he can't play the position. Albright however, well I can't remember him ever playing on the left side.

More importantly though, look at the matchup. I think Alston needs to be on the left to match up against Dane Richards. Just like Alston nuetralized Huckerby with his speed, he'll do the same to Dane.

While he might not match the speed of Khano or Kandhi, ALbright is strong enough to mark them. ALston could keep up but i feel like he'd get pushed around a bit in that spot.

The Richards match up makes sense.....both Khano and Kandhi are 6'3, Albright might not be as fast but would match up better size wise

Kandji is useless out wide, though. He's a striker, not a wing player, so if he's outside again I'm not scared at all.

might want to give him a lil time out there. ive heard that sentiment said about a lot of players in the past which turned out to be untrue. though, you are right that he scares me very little given that i dont think he will settle into the wide position a week after looking inept.
