Wow. Helluva game preview by Peter Hirdt at MLSnet. Why is this message not getting around to the folks who wear the whistles?
thats a pretty sweet pictures I'm sure the refs are well aware that Cancela is getting hacked down roughly 5 to 6 times a game. Alot of the fouls that he get are from his cutbacks. His feet are so quick that the defenders goes for the ball but gets the ankle. Other times (like the Pope incident), Cancela makes a fool out of them and they are frustrated.
From "Analyze This"... "What to Watch For, Part II: The Revs must do a better job of holding serve after breaking their opponents. They have allowed eight goals this season within 10 minutes after scoring a goal of their own (including one in each of their last three matches). That ties Kansas City for the highest total in MLS this season, after the Revs led the league in 2002 and shared the lead with Tampa Bay in 2001." Last 3 years?? I swear the Revs have led this catagory since the league's inception!
The part that concerned me the most was: No matter the weather, stay until the end, folks! FWIW, I e-mailed Peter Hirdt the answer to his trivia question, and he wrote back to me within 10 minutes.
Peter is great... I emailed him when he wrote an article comparing Twellman and Ruiz (how often they're fouled, goals, etc.), and I mentioned that Twellman probably doesn't get statistically fouled as much as Ruiz because Twellman doesn't fall down as much.... He emailed me back very quickly, agreeing, and saying that he fears that Guevera (sp) and Cancela might be similar to Ruiz in that aspect.
