Robbie Winters is doing great in Norway with Brann from Bergen!
Today he scored when Brann took gold in the Norwegian Cup!
Brann scored 3 goals in the first 13 minuetes of the match, and secured a 4-1 win (1 x Winters, 3 x Særthernes) over FC Lyn Oslo at Ullevaal Stadium!
Why this guys isn't on the scottish national team is beyond me!!

Charlie Miller also played for Brann.. He's from Scotland too, right?

Berti capped something like 60 players. Yet he never picked guys like Robbie Winters or Paul Telfer at Southampton. I never understood why he would use so many players yet leave out a couple of consistant performers! It's good to hear Winters is doing well. He was always rather inconsistant over here.

Charlie Miller started at Rangers, also played in England for Watford and then back here with Dundee Utd. Always talented but then again he was never very fit and was a fat bastard :D.

Pity Winters was shocking in a poor Norwegian league. Same with Miller. At least they are finally starting to adapt. Winters might deserve a chance if he continues to perform consistantly.

If I was Scotland manager, I'd give him a go in a few friendlies. We're not blessed with good, consistent strikers at the moment, so where would the harm be?

I think I'm right in saying he's scored 25 goals in 29 goals this season. Ok, some of these goals were against crappy teams but looking at some of the guys that have got a game in friendlies surely he deserves a chance?

Okey..Sure the norwegian league isn't the best, and maybe the only huge thing coming out of it is Rosenborg. But still, Winters have shown good performances, and surely deserves a chance!

I'd say the Norwegian league is of similar quality to the SPL. Alot of Winters' goals have been in the cup against smaller teams though. Still, if he's been playing well surely he deserves a chance. Lets face it, he can't be any worse than Kevin Kyle!

Kyle is improving a little but he's a example of the kind of player Berti would call up. He's at Sunderland and when they were in the Premiership he got a call up before he was even getting a game at club level. It just seemed to be the fact he was at a premiership club!

Andy Gray, Peter Canero, Stephen Crainey, Paul Ritchie, Greame Murty, Paul Devlin, Brian Kerr, Kenny Arthur, Scott Gemmill, Jamie Smith, Craig Burley, Bob Malcolm, Allan Johnstone, Scott Dobie, Derek McInnes, Kevin McNaughton, Robbie Stockdale, Mark Stewart, Cummings, Gary O'Conner, Dougie Freedman, Richard Hughes - here is a list of just some of the players Berti capped, most because of the clubs they were at or becuse they had 1 or 2 good games, most we didn't see again, some I hadn't even heard of! A manager really should be able to tell which ones are any good without handing them all caps! Robbie Winters scores 25 goals in a season and he doesn't even get a chance! There are many more players I could name. Berti couldn't tell if players were any good, and he didn't have any tactical knowledge, i'm very relieved that he has gone :D

I think these are all of Berti's 'boys', that's 71 players capped in 3 years! You'd think he could've found some space for Winters!

    Sæternes, not "Særthernes".

Winters played well today. He's good enough for Scotland so he deserves a
try. Maybe the new NT will give him a chance.

I'm sure Telfer played once for Scotland (under Craig Brown) and decided to retire from international football!

Are you sure Bob Malcolm's played for Scotland? I think he's only played for the Scotland 'B' team but has never played in the first team

That would be Warren Cummings, Dont know how he managed to get called up

    Quote Winters:
Translate: - I hope to get a chance for the national team. It's silly that people in Scotland say that the level (of the Norwegian League) is not good. Norwegian teams beat scottish teams in the europe cup. Except for Celtic og Rangers, then the level in Norway is just as good as in Scotland.

    ;)

Malcolm didn't get off the bench against Iceland. So he isn't capped but he has been involved in squads. I think the same goes for Cummings. There are maybe 3 or 4 others in the list that weren't capped under berti, like Shearer and Arthur, who only made the bench. But it's still a staggering amount of players to have used in 3 years! Caps should be earned, these were given away. This also makes igoring Winters a weird decision.
