Agreed. They should tack on another two-game ban just for floating such a horribly misogynist, crappy idea.
I agree that's messed up but it all depends on how FIFA treats this, as to exactly how Men's versus Women's teams are viewed in the eyes of FIFA. And I mean in "are they the same organization" or "are they completely separate teams".
Well if they don't make that distinction then I think the U-12 teams will start serving all bans and punishments.....
Equating youth squads with adult squads? Men's tournaments and Women's tournaments are separate tournaments and competitions. I obviously agree on that point. However, punishments earned in one shouldn't carry over to the other, I completely agree. But that means monetary compensation for participating in the tournament should ALSO not carry over. Can't have one without the other. This is the legal entity distinction I'm talking about.
And adding a point to clarify (since this seems to be the best thread for that discussion), I'm not against USWNT bargaining for anything they feel they deserve. But to use a slogan "equal pay" is disingenuous. I can see how they can argue equal treatment. Demanding the same travel and hotel accommodations makes sense. Demanding the exact same playing conditions (grass fields, that kind of stuff) makes sense. But pay compensation gets complicated because no matter how they slice it, it will never be exactly the same unless you are talking about International Friendlies, on a per-game, per-selection, or per-appearance basis. I seem to be the only person even bringing up the legal ramifications of what the Mexican Federation is trying to pull, and I've been vilified and had personal attacks. I agree they shouldn't be able to happen, and honestly should be punished for trying to attempt it. But then you also have to think about why they shouldn't be allowed to do it.
Also I guess I kinda missed what you were saying, then yea I agree. But then the U-12 teams are going to also start demanding a share of the Senior Tournament revenue.
LATEST NEWS | Leo #Messi will not continue with FC Barcelona— FC Barcelona (@FCBarcelona) August 5, 2021
Wonder if this means he'll proxeed forward woth that ManCity deal where he plays for both NYFC and ManCity.
Most Big Chance Created in the Champions League since the start of the 2016/17 season:◉ Lionel Messi (30)◉ Kylian Mbappé (29)◉ Ángel Di María (26)◉ Neymar (24)And now they're all in the same team. 🤯 pic.twitter.com/9KtilM6XDZ— Squawka (@Squawka) August 10, 2021 What an utterly anti-climactic ending to what was the most exciting news in football in years. He's going to an even more stacked team in a much less competitive league. He's being added to a team that were finalists and semifinalists in CL the last two years.
Too bad for the French league. Really all about Champions League. And makes you see why the "Super League" looked like a good idea to the owners of these super-teams.
For me, the most impressive stat on that table: From 2016-'21 the second most prolific "Big Chance" creator was Mbappe, who was all of 17yo when this counting span began. Yes Mbappe is now 22yo, like one of the DP's on our team!* Very impressive! *Sorry Kevin. Keep scoring goals!
Putting this into perspective, Transfermarkt lists the market value of the combined Galaxy players at $39mm. They list Mbappe alone at just over $187mm. And PSG paid Monaco a $41mm loan fee for just the 2017/18 season before paying another $140 for his full rights.
So they have a lot of chance creators - big whoop. It’s not like they have anyone to finish those opportunities….
Good to see Angel Di Maria finally get Messi as his teammate. I've always thought he was the "forgotten Argentine"
I don't follow the FFP rules, but I have seen a blurb on the internet that the French version of the FA or Ligue 1 (not sure which) has not adopted/finalized the rules yet and that is what is allowing PSG to sign Messi.
Wasn't he the one quoted as saying "Why don't you guys come up and help score" when his defenders complained about him not defending?
