If the team bonus for the reserves champion is $20,000, how much is the team bonus for the senior squad winning the MLS Cup?

Interesting rules for the league. Extra subs and guest players allowed.

Something I never thought of until I read that article is that the Reserve League can only increase the quality of refereeing in the league as well. Develop young guys, give extra work for regulars, etc.

All around, a good move by the League.

Also increase the quality of coaching, I'd think.

I think its great that MLS is trying out new concepts in the Reserve League. Single Table, incentive bonuses. Good stuff. Kind of like how other US pro leagues try out new rules during the preseason. I don't think we are far away from win bonuses being introduced into the Sr. league.

And what the AHL does for the NHL (well, when the NHL plays anyway).

MetroStars v KC (next Sunday 4/17) listed for Giants Stadium. That amazes me.

The extra subs make perfect sense. That way you can use the game to give a player recovering from injury a start and not worry about how long he plays messing up your other plans.

    Good job MLS.

Nice job by MLS. Would've liked to see a few more games, but they do bring up a good point about youth competitions and the like. I'm sure they'll supliment with local sides much as they do now but overall I think it's a good start.

    I thought this was interesting.
Depending on how competative these things are maybe they'll be no different than a practice scrimage. Given that essentially anyone could be used in a reserve team match if a Senior Team member gets a red card suspension they can still play in the next week's reserve team game if there's one available. I wonder if they might think about changing that in the future. Obvioulsy I don't think guys should be precluded from Senior Team matches if they pick up a red in a reserve team game but I'm not so sure about vice versa.
