Personally I think the Colorado Rapids should undergo a name change/new identity. The club should go with the majority and represent a city, not the whole state.

    Here are my suggestions:

    - Denver Rapids

    - Denver Brumbies (proportional to NFL's Denver Broncos)

And a new state-of-the-art soccer stadium for the Colorado club is a must also. Mile High is too American Football-sophisticated.

    Thoughts?

A new stadium was just approved by Commerce City. It should be ready by 2007.

As for the name change, no. I like the name "the Colorado Rapids." It rolls nicely off of the tongue. And it's not a bad name, unlike the "Wiz," of former Kansas City fame. And soon, the team won't be playing in the city of Denver, so changing it to Denver ______ isn't a great idea. And, no offense, but your second idea is awful. WTF is a brumbie?

They need to continue building their identity and they need to start playing quality soccer so more people will recognize them. Changing the name won't do that.

    The Mile-High Weedsmokers.

(on a more serious note): something that had Mile High in it's name. It defines the region while giving the originality in naming that comes only in soccer for some reason, say the Mile-High Climbers, the Denver Mile-Highs, or just Club Mile-High.

Yeah. Moving on I think MLS needs to open up the coffers and buy some big names, and set up a promotion relegation system with the A League.

Our current name is fine. We don't need a change.

I like illiteration so my vote is The Commerce City Cash Cows. Owned by Kronke. :D

no change... stop with the change. We just lost our beloved coach (*snicker*), we are going to have to leave the friendly confines of Invesco (*cough*)have to get used to seeing Trembly and a new haircut every game on a new TV channel... it is all too much... might make me cry. WHAT IS NEXT, NEW HARDWARE TO CLEAN?!?!?!?!?

I'm still digging Rocky Mountain Arsenal.

Maybe we could get a partnership going with the Gunners, too.

Then with Salt Lake hooked up with Madrid, we can get a real Euro-poseur derby going!

    Arsenal v Real

    Sounds like a winner.

This would be a good stadium name, but I don't want a club name change and I certainly don't want to take the ReAL SLC route and try to forge an alliance with a Euro club.

I'm liking Mile High Club.... That would get some attention.

If we keep the Rapids name, the logo needs to go..... I won't buy any Rapids paraphernalia until it's changed to something a little more creative (maybe incorporate some mountains/city skyline?).

Bring back the original and add a soccerball in the waves!

and as for names...since it is a Kroenke team and soon to be stadium...How about the...
"Colorado Sam's!" since we will most likely be playing at the Wal*Mart Center!
    LOL....I crack my self up!

I think the Rapids are great! It is original and the best representation of the area. Better than any of the other team names here in Colorado.
But I have always liked the wave logo better!

    I don't really want a name change ...

But I had thought of Colorado RSC where RSC stands for Rapids Soccer Club.

Right, because names like "Rockies" and "Avalanche" are entirely misrepresentative of the state.

Oh, thats an ugly thought. The Wal-mart Center, home to the Rapids...You know its going to happen.
