No, no. I don't (thankfully) root for the Knicks! It's just the reliance on isolation offense rather than movement off the ball that I was referring to.

But I do root for the Mets which is even worse.

Did you watch 30/30 about the Mets? It was so good. I started watching baseball in 87 so I didn’t know about all the shenanigans until the early 90s

I don't think I did, but I lived it as a fan so would probably enjoy it!

    I loved it

I was born in NJ and moved to South Florida at the end of 85 and one of my first friends was a huge Mets fan.

Strawberry, Gooden, Dykstra, Mookie, Kid, Keith, Tim teufel shuffle, hoJo, Ron darling, el Sid etc etc

What wasn’t there to love about that team

I will take Bolillo or Maturana right now. The way we played under Rueda has been in unbareable to watch

If I remember correctly CrzD wanted Rueda to be our manager badly for months last cycle and early on this cycle.
    Now he wants someone else.
    Fun times.

I was thinking of 5-0 vs Ecuador/Peru. 3-0 vs Uruguay in Barranquilla with fking Pacheco, Tessor Moreno and a Gabriel rey!!

not Barranquilla doesn’t work for our player.

or the Nacional coach Rueda or the Flamengo coach Rueda.

this is the worst I have ever seen us play.

the Uruguay game was fking awful…. Team had the momentum then killed the last 15 minute to get the tie

against Ecuador we played like we didn’t need to win or we were up by 12. We don’t shoot at goal

Fk bring back Leonel give Osorio a shot …. Just please free us of Rueda!!!

Within this knee jerking from CRzd is an interesting question:

WTH is going on with Rueda? I don't remember his youth or sr Colombian or later club spots playing so static?

Is it just that his early power move to establish dominance with James back fired? (I.e., he filled his Copa call ups with his friends to gain control of the locker room but now doesn't have any tested options to boost midfield roles when we need them?)

As much as I'm frustrated by his rosca call ups this past summer and the anti-futbol dynamics we've seen in the field recently I am puzzled by the fact I wouldn't have expected this from him....

I mean Pekerman was a step up but we needed to get better

all Pekermans issues are magnified with Rueda. Late changes and being a total coward. Against teams with “better players”

not having a mf was masked by Having a godlike James. By pekerman. And being blessed with Armero and Zuniga in the 2014 cycle

it almost feels like we play with 4-5 cbs under Rueda because I know you all love Barrios but to me he is a CB. Who offers nothing going forward.

rather play two more offensive Mfs unless we go to a 3 in the back style. He can drop back in a counter and it’s sort of like having 4 again but when he does Tesillo, Medina with Lerma/Cuellar and Barrios. It’s like playing 6 cbs then people are like why don’t we score

or why is grandpa Falcao such shit!!

I deleted your last sentence bc you bring up many valid points. I like Barrios a lot but we don’t have the depth of MFs like France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Brazil and now Argentina who can put on box to box midfielders at any given time.

I think we should start looking at other options instead of the Uribe/Barrios combo and give guys like Cantillo a go. I think CQ actually called him up but he didn’t feature in those famous Uruguay/Ecuador games.

I think it was you who once said a good defense is having a better offense and I agree to an extent (worked for Spain 2008-12) Barrios is a must play player until we play with some [emoji1639][emoji1639]and learn how to play possession ball as defense - but we don’t have enough B2B guys at our disposal.

My grandpa Falcao comment was a joke of how people see him. Fine I don’t want him to start and think we need to move on from him

but he was never a guy who could create steal the ball from mf and score a goal like if you play fifa on easy. That is what Rueda is expecting of all our attacking players when he play 10 defenders.

my knock on him in 2006 cycle is not using any of the u20 from 2005. I mean he loved Abel why not give Abel a shot there. I get it he was almost not qualified by how bad we started and the other teams actually played well.

this time he has had plenty of shot to be 2nd place at this point. He just too much of a coward to take chances or even try new players.

I don’t care who the coach is. You have a injured player or lose a guy to suspension. Call someone else!!!

Borja is an ok player. We shouldn’t have missed him this much the last few games.

Borja is okay outside of Barranquilla. But when he has played there recently he is like Teo.
    It is what it is.

Yikes. Faced with remarkable statistic evidence and all the film still trying to justify the poorly directed vitriol that was aimed at Pekerman. The cognitive dissonance is real.

His results are indisputable and even when you disagreed with his strategy (as I did in the England match in Russia) - his tactics and roster mgmt delivered his objective (he wanted a tight game and pens and that's what he got).

I wonder what he would have done at our fullback positions (no seriously, I wonder and wish he would call Rueda and tell him!).

All that said, Rueda was solid when he ran the youth teams and later the NT in his first stint - but his side is just not dynamic enough given the talent he has at his disposal.

We aren't switching again to after qualifying (and certainly won't if we make the tournament) - so I think we all have to focus on what Rueda can do differently or better at this point...
