I know this was talked about a while back, but then I saw the US Women's game versus Mexico in Kansas City, and lo and behold, there was the center referee, from the US, in full USSF/OSI kit, wearing a FIFA Fair Play badge. I haven't seen any other FIFA refs wearing the badge - has the USSF lightened up on the badge, or is FIFA now requiring it for internationals (in which case, why weren't the ARs wearing them)?
I posed this question to the USSF several years ago. They replied that only FIFA referees are permitted to wear the Fair Play Badge.
My pleasure. I like the Fair Play Badge and don't see why it should not be part of the referees uniform. For players it's a constant reminder of how the game should be played.
The CR (Riabel Trujillo) is from Peru, not the US. She was probably given the OSI kit as a gift; I didn't see the game, but are you sure the USSF crest was on the arm?
That must be a USSF rule as I was given a FIFA Fair Play badge after officiating in a New Zealand Development vs South Australia U17 match earlier this year.
