I hope this item will not be in OSI's gift catalog for Christmas: https://kfor.com/news/local/referee...iring-gun-during-soccer-game-in-pauls-valley/
"After the scuffle over the red card, the referee is seen on video running off the field toward his maroon Nissan pickup truck. Seconds later, Bazeth can be seen emerging with a gun in his hand." There is the problem. If OSI only sold a holster, the referee wouldn't have had a reason to show the red card.
I love that the TV people called it a "red flag," and then compounded it with a video shot of a corner flag with a hole in it.
Now US Soccer is going to come out with a memo stating that guns and holsters are only for Regional Referees and up
Expect more of this as more states legaiize open carry without any sort of license/registration. It will be legal for the referee and players to actually have the weapon on them! The above comment about holsters is not very far from the truth. PH
I believe it is still legal for private property owners as well as event organizers to ban people from bringing weapons onto the scene, regardless of open carry/licensing issues.
I was joking. Stand your ground doesn’t include leaving the scene and coming back with a weapon to shoot someone.
For some reason the description of this is reminding me of Marques Johnson's role in White Men Can't Jump
I am getting similar videos on my YouTube timeline. This referee pulls out his gun after a game in Honduras several days ago:
Years ago i had the brilliant idea that misconduct could be given with appropriately colored paint ball guns. The referee would have two holsters and would paint the miscreant as necessary. This could even be expanded to include pepper spray in the yellow card: why have a sin bin if you can’t see or breath for several minutes after getting a caution? The game where i feel i would need personal protection during or after would be my last. I hate it that any ref ever has to feel that way.
"'Even small caliber weapons can still produce death,' said Jolley." Huh. Who knew? Meanwhile, this morning there were at least eight cops out front of the Airbnb I'm staying at in Urbana Illinois, investigating a shot fired. But it sounded small caliber, mind you ...
Where you are "open carry " without permit or license begins tomorrow! Won't that be fun! Good Luck! PH
6 of the top 10 gun owning states , and the top four by percent population, are North of the Mason-Dixon Line. all of those 6 either border Canada or border states that border Canada.
I mean Alaska is about as North as you can go. And carrying a gun there for protection from wildlife is like carrying a wallet for most people.
The third largest standing army in the world on November 15 every year is in Michigan, for the opening of firearm deer hunting season. No idea if that factoid is true or not, but it sounds like we should just take it as given. Definitely true that the Auto companies gave up trying to run plants on November 15 and now give it as a holiday ("Veterans' Day, Observed")
When I was at Chrysler, we called it "Hunting for Veterans" day. As I recall, it was the Friday closest to Nov 15.
