Still 25,000. Far less suites. No stage whatsoever. Opening.... probably 2010. Info and pic are courtesy of 'DHatch' on Metr0Fanat!c.
I will believe this place is actually going to exist when I am standing in the away section for a RBNY/Revs game.
If it was without a stage, what was wrong with the previous design? And are there any substantial changes to amenities or layout or anything, really? Not that this one looks bad, but I really thought the old RBP looked pretty damn cool.
Old lower bowl seating diagram just to really show some contrast. No stage, luxury boxes only on one side. Image here. Old interior image here. Can't link directly to images because they are on a funky old server that wont let me direct link.
Was there some subtle pressure from da boys (if you know what I mean) from the PNC Pavilion at Holmdel to not include a stage?
Why less suites? And if they are doing away with the stage and some suites, wouldn't the capacity increase? Or are they doing a smaller footprint? It looks like the roof with be larger, at least based on the one picture at the top of the thread.
OK. Let me, a 'Direct Kickville' resident, get this straight: The orginal AEG design had a stage, RB doesn't want a stage so there is a delay for a design w/o stage. And so, after it's built, RB will come back and (much like Columbus) say, "Hey. We need a stage so we can have concerts without tearing up the field." So then they will have to come back and knock out an end at put in a stage.
Actually no. The new Prudential Center (NJ Devils Arena) is in partnership with AEG. The two places are less then a mile apart, so AEG does not need a concert venue any more. Red Bull is buying out AEG and redesigning the stadium to their specs. This means that there will not be a stage, less suites, but most importantly more roof cover and a natural grass surface.
I preferred the old roof more, made it alot more open and would feel like you were actually at a stadium and not in a basktball arena with a hole at the top.
Who wants to bet that when costs skyrocket, 3/4 of the roof is gone--all that is left will be the one roof section that is split on the sides from the rest of the roof.
Still trying to figure out how AEG agreed to no concert stage when they are supposedly footing half of the bill.....
I think that AEG agreed to it because Red Bull is buying out their half. Of course, the question then becomes, "When Red Bull is footing a nine-figure bill for this place, why are people expecting that there won't be concerts or other events there?" Red Bull is gonna whore this place out like nobody's business.
Umm, as far as I had seen, it was always going to have Natural Grass... it was just going to include a synthetic weave, which LOTS of big clubs like MANU use to increase the durability of the field without affecting playability.
Word on the street is that AEG isn't going to be involved with the new stadium. Even if they are, they control the Devil's new stadium across the river in Newark. It sounds like they have their year round concert venue already.
I will believe this place is actually going to exist when we hear something from Red Bull about it. fwiw, The Red Bull park web site hasn't been updated and still features the original design/renderings. If it is the new design it will be far and away the nicest stadium in the league. We'll see.
They're not. Red Bull bought out (or is in the process of buying out) AEG's share of the stadium. So RB will pay for all of it and get the design they want.
