Help a brother out. What is the significance of writing it ReAL instead of Real. Just curious.

And congrats on getting an expansion team.

I think it was trying to help people see that is pronounced "Rey-All" (more or less), not "Reel"... but it is a little '70's - if you ask me.

After a few months (or a season at the longest) everyong will more or less know how to pronounce it. Viva ReAL!!

There is no difference, in my opinion. It was simply an artistic decision made by a graphic artist, to fit the crown in above the "e". People started writing it out that way because they liked it or thought it mattered. People don't have to write it that way, and I doubt it's written that way in formal FO communications. :)

I, for one, say that its high time we start writing Real Salt Lake and lay off the typo-looking name.

I have to admit that the way it looks on my RSL red long sleeved shirt looks good. I think it was done like Montgjules said it was for marketing purposes and to get the crown over the small "e". Anyway I like it and I hope they keep it like that.

Go purchase a shirt like mine and I'm sure you'll learn to like the smaller "e".

I got ReAL!!! It's time for you to get ReAL!!!!! :D :D :D

    GO ReAL!!!!

If you really have an issue with "ReAL" vs "Real"...just go with "RSL".

I really don't like spelling it ReAL. It looks ridiculous. RSL = Real Salt Lake. They can keep it in their logos if they want it with the crown thing. Normally on t-shirts and stuff you'd write REAL SALT LAKE or something, as opposed to Real Salt Lake because you want large print on shirts. The crown is worth shrinking the e on the shirt, but not in any other context.

I'm just gonna call 'em royal, as in royal pain in the ass for people who don't like the name.

Utah tradition! Since there was to be no ZZ then follow the BLiTZZ tradition. Now learn to roll your R"s properly!

It is only for their logos. Look at their web site. It is spelled without the funky capitals everywhere except for that stylized logo.

    Real Salt Lake

Personally, I think their logo looks great.

Well... I could tell you what I think is more relevant to Oakland/San Francisco than a Pirate/Raider... but maybe I'd hurt your feelings.

    Nice eye patch though. ;)

What are you kidding me? The Queen of Spain gave Salt lake the title 'Real' Just when I was starting to appreciate the MLS and get over the Columbus crew piece of crap blues bros badge, some expansion team has to pretend theve been ordained by royalty in Spain. What a joke.

You are about 3 months too late with your tired a** argument!

Besides that... It was the King of Spain that bestowed the Real (Ray-al) name on football clubs in Spain, not the Queen!

I was bored so I decided I would s'troll' in here. I heard about a Salt Lake team but the Real thing made me laugh. Don't mind me though you're all deadset on cosmetic names for your teams, I just hope Toronto does get into that piece of crap league. (yes I'd rather have no pro team here)

    Piece of crap league?

A league that has produced two CONCACAF Champion Cup winners and one Interamerican Cup winner in just nine years.

My inside sources told me a few months ago that they were considering the name "Utah Mormons F.C."
