Time to make history!

 

I started following Madrid in 2000/2001, but not much. 01/02 was when I really became interested, and got my first jersey (I was still 12 at the time). Still have it somewhere in my home country, with www.realmadrid.com on it.

First time I learnt what the Champions League is was that year. First great football memory was that night in Glasgow. I still remember the game like it was yesterday. Raul's goal, Lucio's heart-breaking equalizer, and then Zidane's master piece, and Iker's save after save after save while Leverkusen even had there goalkeeper attack us: The first time in my life I had seen a goalkeeper join the attack. No wonder Zidane and Iker are my my favorite players ever, they gave me one of my best moments as a kid. I was over the moon that night, and the day after, proudly trotting my jersey at school.

I am sure it's the same story with the rest of you. That silver Champions League trophy gave you wonderful memories in 98, 00, and 02. And we've all been waiting since.

It was hard to explain to my gf who will be visiting from Europe to the US the week of the 24th (and we barely see each other every year) that May 24th, she isn't expecting any plans: I've been waiting 12 years for this game, and I am not missing it for the world. Now of course I didn't tell her I shed many manly tears after the imperious Real Madrid rampaged Bayern, just as we would have expected them to do against any team 12 years ago. The joy we all got for reaching the final once more, the hope it gave us, is nothing like I felt since 2002.. But it's not enough. We're almost there.

Come on Ronaldo, Luka, vamos Iker y Ramos, lead us to victory.

Dani, Isco, Gareth, Karim, you were young kids in 2002, my age when you saw Zidane score that beauty, and I am sure you wanted to be in his place ever since. Now is your chance to make history, to conquer the elusive Tenth, and give us fans one more reason to love this team! Let's do this, hala Madrid!

This moment has been a long time coming. We are on the verge of history. Even with Alonso's absence, we have the squad, manager and tactics to be victorious. It should be a good match and once we are fired up and start positively, we can take it to Pathetico. They are going to come out as hungry as ever but once we remain focused, we should be fine.
