A tale of two halves once again. The win is what matters but this team is really difficult to watch sometimes.
It's a damn shame Vallejo can't stay healthy because he is so talented and has a good feel for the game. Benzema keeps doing it and our left side looked energetic throughout the second half. Right side still needs a lot of work. Modric was great. Kroos solid. Isco with some nice dimes once he came on (plus a few typical frustrating moments). Varane quality. Marcelo making shit happen. Nice to see a solid win and the clean sheet.
How was Bale? Benz carrying whole attack on his back yet again. Brahim deserves the minutes the two other donkeys are getting
I will probably be alone on this hill but, #9 is nowhere near our biggest problem. Benzema is giving us an elite level number of goals from that spot. More league goals than Suarez, Salah, Aguero, Kane. Same amount of goals as Lewandowski. Yes, he is up there in age and may not sustain this for much longer, but we need goalscoring from other positions more so than we need a new #9.
Fully agreed. Also, Vallejo is so talented. It's one of the saddest stories in recent years. What could have been (and perhaps still could become?)...I'd loan him to a good La Liga team. He's good enough for Real Madrid, he just needs to prove he can stay healthy.
Benzema has had a solid season and one of the very very few to have upped their game from last year (only way for him was up but you get my point). Saying that, going into next season with an additional 9 is seriously risky business.
Benzema is the first player in Real Madrid's history to score 8 consecutive goals without any other teammate finding the net.
We simply need to replace the other two forwards to partner Benz up front. Hazard will be one and Vini the other or someone else. And bring more flair in the midfield.. replacing one of the starters.
