This is what he did after Barcelona's win 2 seasons ago. Make of it what you will but it's not painful anymore. :)

EDIT:^You're too fast for me M1902

2 years ago after Farca won La Liga, this happened

He started a chant which roughly translates to "Madrid, b*stards, Salute the Champions"

Its safe to say alot of Madridistas never forgave him for that

All I care about is what all the naysayers and critics who said he was too old, over the hill, and just another has-been going to a subpar league in the twilight of his career are thinking now.

It's a team game and took a team effort of course, but there is no arguing the point that without 'Becks, Real Madrid likely would not have been celebrating today.

    IMO

Ah..So...We are giving him a taste of his own medicine.but being more classier than him by just inserting Samuel Etoo and not Barcelona..

Serves him right..This is what you call "Being done in by Karma Police"

I had read about this but never seen/heard it until now. pretty pathetic. And Nuff_said, I think this should go to "let's have a laugh" thread.

    Hey nuffy!

You get a vacation from thread-starting! What are you going to do with all your free time? ;)

I still have some projects. Gonna make a game highlights today, then some other special projects of players and stuff over the next weeks, as time permits. Some of you have asked me about making DVDs, and I'm thinking about it.

Anyways nuff, I just wanted to thank you again for all your game threads. For some reason, your 12 Games 12 Finals series was really inspiring and I so looked forward to it each week. This is corny, but before the game pbp, I would always go look at the first page for encouragement.

*oh! it's making me all verklempt just thinking about it* :p

I think because he issued a formal apology. I kinda expect Canna to do the same.

A few weeks ago he said that he would say something much worse than the "cabron saluda al campeon", should Barcelona win the title. How does that go together with his apology? It was just 'formal', he did it cause he had to.

Eto'o knew what would happen, and has to deal with the consequences.Eto'o looks for attention wherever he can, but he crossed the line back then. His WWF style "interview-press-conference in the hallway" thing where he was yelling and acting up in front of the press, leaving then coming back for more, was a great example of how much he loves to be in the center of attention.

there are several important differences to look at.

1.- it was etoo alone who started this mess and consecuences came after it
canna is just acting accordingly to what etoo did

2.-etoo instuled the team not a single player
canna just insulted a player, who deserved it because of his own doing

3.- etoo started the chanting and the stadium folloew
it was the fans who started with the chants and canna later joined them and asked for more yet its not like he had it planned

i think he will apologize later but really w/e

And of course, that makes it OK.

I think I was four, but one time I ran around the chalkboard in my school with a crayon while another kid followed me around with another crayon. My defense? Quite similar to what you just used. I do not condone and never have condoned Eto'o's actions. I have a lot of respect for Cannavaro but I think this is kinda dissapointing. What ever happened to being the better man?

I don't know what the deal is here to be honest.

It's not like Cannavaro took the stadium microphone and started chanting and having 100k fans following his lead.

You guys are blowing this way out of proportions, there is NO press about this anywhere that i've seen, ie, noone cares about this.. at all.

What was great about Eto'o's chant was that there he was celebrating Barca's success and all he could think about was Real Madrid. Even when he should've been full of happiness, Real Madrid's rejection was filling him with bitterness and hate. :D Like standing up on your wedding day and saying "I'm married now - so there Sarah! That's what you get for dumping me! Where's your husband?!".

after what etoo did that year every player is the better man....etoo planned this...etoo thought this up in his stupid head and then used it to hurt madrid and their fan base...canna was just following the current and did not even plan this before hand...etoos way of doing things was much worse...

as i have said before really who cares but etoo had this one coming and im gald he got his due

there is so much controversy about Canna chanting with the fans right across the boards; I have just one thing to say about it ...

    "Eto'o, cabrón, saluda al campeón!"

Horsey do you have a clip of the team coming out of the tunnel until the handshakes? I've been looking for it everywhere. I don't want to d/l the entire first half because I only want that part

Nope. The game started without it so I didn't get it either. And there was no real pregame Bernabeu stuff, but I'm not sure that there was anything to see except for the roar. Sorry. :(
