From today's Journal. The first part is a nice story from Ed about the Namoff deal but the juicy stuff about his frustration with leaks is towards the bottom. http://www.jrnl.com/cfdocs/new/ffx/mainstory.cfm?snumber=05&paper=ffx§ion=sp Ray sounds as frustrated about leaks as Rumsfeld does! And, it sounds like if he's able to identify - and presumably, prove - who it is, someone's gonna be out of a job. Back to the Namoff deal, according to Ed's story, this move opens up a roster spot which presumes that Namoff has been waived. Presumably the club could re-sign him at some point but presumably some other team could claim him as well. With Namoff gone, it leaves the following players still with the club who were on the roster when last season ended: Marco, Jaime, Eddie, Benny, Nelsen, Tino, Convey, Chino and Ammann (who will likely be waived or traded as soon as he gets healthy, or will have to retire because of injuries). No question, this is Ray's team now.
OK, here's a question for you. We sign this mystery forward and team him with Jaime up front. This of course means that Q2 has to sit. What happens next?
Your the leak, aren't you??????? Admit it..............maybe we need to start keeping the info we get on the QT, until the last minute, if it is actually scuttling deals. I bet though, that he is pissed about it taking this long to send Namoff down to the A-League.
I think Eliseo is more of a midfielder. He was played at forward because DC United needed help there. So he would not necessarily have to sit.
Prove what? This isn't the government, I don't think there is a union involved so drop kick the suspected rat out of the organization and be done with it. If Ray is right, the rat is gone. If Ray is wrong, the rat will likely head for cover and shut up. Ok, so this may be hardline and insensitive but it is a thought and may solve the problem. Flame away.
Re: Re: Ray speaks out on leaks at United and he doesn't sound happy Mr. Ashcroft, I didn't realize that you were a DCU fan.
I still say that he is pissed mostly about the Namoff business. I'll be Brian found out and confronted Ray about it before they were ready to make the move. The simple solution to this is to limit information, internally, to just Ray, Kasper and Stephen.
Re: Re: Ray speaks out on leaks at United and he doesn't sound happy It certainly isn't too harsh, if indeed leaks have prevented deals from taking place. However, if it hasn't really hurt the teams dealings, then having a few hundred internet fans know who the team is trying to sign or move doesn't seem to be that big a deal. Maybe Ray should try being straight up with players like Namoff he is trying to move so they don't have to hear it through the press.
Re: Re: Re: Ray speaks out on leaks at United and he doesn't sound happy The point is why tell the kid until you have to. It is an old managment trick, Make policy changes on Friday's, so the don't have to deal with them until Monday.
That means the leaks started about the same time that OTC showed up! Its always the quiet ones you have to watch out for
To get back on a serious note. ray is quoted in the article as saying "He could bolster our attacking play as a squad player." about this mystery international. Do we really need another "squad" player? If we are going to bring in a player at this late juncture who is going to help push us into the play-offs, shouldn't it be something better than a squad player. If it is Asprilla, I'm not sure this is a good thing. While extremely talented, he isn't the smoothest player to get along with and has had on and off the field incidents to rival the best. Including a problem in Italy with driving (or should I say staying on the road) and a problem in South America with guns (threatening a few people with one IIRC).
