Start of a three match week with the Rapids traveling to LA for a midweek game v the Galaxy. I assume Fraser will role out the 5-4-1. Hopefully they won't be overly passive and cede possession and space. Robin Fraser #Rapids96 #HOUvCOL Preview Presser: "It's the start of a challenging week for us. Houston in Houston, LA in LA, then RSL at home. They haven't gotten results over the last few weeks, but they have talent in a number spots. We have to deal with the conditions."— Matt Pollard (@LWOSMattPollard) August 12, 2021 On the arrival of Lucas Esteves: "He's been great. English needs a little work. He's fit in well, done well in training. He's making strides every day [adjusting to the altitude]. Hopefully he'll be up to speed quickly."Esteves is available for Saturday.— Matt Pollard (@LWOSMattPollard) August 12, 2021
This week will be a tough week for the guys. I imagine there will be some squad rotation seeing as how we play LA on Tuesday and then FSL on Saturday. I also hope that Robin uses all 5 subs in this game. It's gonna be hot and humid (high of 95, and 58% humidity for Houston tomorrow), and Houston isn't exactly what you would call a tough opponent. While at home they are 3-0-4, they are 3-6-9 on the season It should also be noted that their last win on the season was 5/22 vs Vancouver....so, since 5/22 Houston is 0-4-7, with their last two games being losses to Austin and Minnesota where they were outscored a combined 5-2. If there's ever a game to roll minutes to a good chunk of the B-Squad, this is it. Hot and humid weather, against a weaker opponent, and with two much tougher games on the upcoming week. If the Rapids can grab 5+ points this week, I see that as a win.
1-0 win, goal by Kaye. Colorado is a better team than Houston, there's no doubt of that. I think the frustration from not getting the job done last week is going to carry into this match and have the team coming in hungry. It will be a slow game in the heat but Kaye will get his first as a Rapid and the Rapids will contain Houston's offense for the 3 points. http://view-from-the-couch.blogspot.com/2021/08/big-week-starts-in-houston.html
Heat, humidity, and the start of a 3-match week so I expecting a little bit of a conservative approach to the match. I don’t know if Robin and Co will sit back per se but I think controlling the pace of the game through possession and picking your opportunities to get in behind Houston will be game plan. I say 2-0 with an early and late goal from Bassett and Shin.
Agree. And it will be interesting to see who starts in the midfield. Assuming Acosta is available and everyone else is healthy, will both Acosta and Kaye start? Will one of them be on the bench to start with and eye on Wednesday night? If Esteves doesn't play tonight I would bet he does in one of the next two matches. Same with Badji. I'm going out on a limb here and saying we'll see at least one water break tonight . Also, Fraser is likely to role out the 5-4-1. Hope it isn't too conservative as that allows the opposition to hold a lot of possession without much pressure and thus gain confidence.

I’m in Mexico this week so if the rapids needs tips on how to deal with the heat and humidity I have advice. Stay by the pool, grab a chase lounge in the shade, and swim frequently. Mix up the drinks, a variety of Mexican beers, palomas, mohitos, etc…. No problems! Rapids win 2-0.
It would be better if we would stop passing the ball to orange in our half. First Bassett, and now Shin.
The Houston announcers said the yellow was on Rubio ... it looked like Andre didn't make contact with him and he just fell
If nothing else, Celo and Fleming get players names right 99% of the time lol. Tonight my tally so far: Calling Rubio on a pass when it was Shinyashiki Calling Price on a cross field switch when it was Rosenberry Pretty sure none of those guys look anything alike and their numbers are completely different….
Bailed out by a marginal offside call. Yarbrough was out of control but the contact was minimal and Urrutti left his foot in looking for it. Nightmare call for the ref either way.
