I believe the Development Academy players are eligible for homegrown player designations. the youth soccer club players are not.
Ahh, think this has changed based on KC grabbing the MLS "rights" to star local kid who never ever did anything with their academy.
Colorado Rapids Youth Soccer club is the former Aurora Sting club, I believe. Colorado Rapids DA is the teams that play in the Development Academy started by USSF.
Here's a nice consolidated list from DP. http://www.denverpost.com/2017/02/01/colorado-soccer-national-signing-day-2017/
When my then-5-year-old started playing in the glory-soaked post-cup spring of 2011, he was on Team (Wells) Thompson of the Rapids Youth Soccer Club. The next year, when Hinchey came aboard, they folded the program and merged us with Colorado Fusion in Aurora. The following year, Fusion rebranded to CRYSC. Maybe Colorado Fusion used to be Aurora Sting back in the day?
U18 Academy squad lost to CO Springs Switchbacks last night 3-1. Goal scored by Navy commit Gustafson; intercepted a poor keeper play out of the back and slotted home in the first half following two switchback goals. One of the switchback goals was a Rapids OG, so overall not a bad showing from the youngsters.
Colorado Rapids: Rhys De Sota- CM The Rapids’ slow-and-steady academy approach hasn’t yielded a ton in terms of volume, but there’s been some notable Homegrown quality in guys like Shane O’Neill and Dillon Serna. Rhys De Sota should be in that mix as a serious Homegrown candidate given time. De Sota’s been the focal point of the Rapids’ up-and-coming crop of U18 talent, which might be the best they’ve ever had. The 2017 Stanford commit has been a force in the final third as an attacking midfielder with 10 goals from 19 games, and a Homegrown deal doesn’t feel that far off. http://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2017/03/30/parchman-every-mls-clubs-top-academy-prospect
Baby Rapids went 0-2-1 in the Generation Adidas Cup, including a PK loss (the draw) to Atlanta and a 5-0 whopping from River Plate. Edit: To add, only NYRB managed to advance to the semi-finals of MLS academy teams. KC with three losses. FC Dallas topped Real Madrid today. http://www.mlssoccer.com/generation-adidas-cup/2017/championship-division/schedule-standings
Looks like both Academy teams qualified for the post-season. The U18s qualified as a wildcard after being in the toughest conference in the age group- the only conference to qualify three wildcards. The U16s qualified by finishing third in their conference. Good luck at playoffs in Indianapolis!
Well, it looks like we have a few guys on the radar again with recent US Soccer Youth "super camp", I counted 5 across the various age groups but one has club listed as Rush. Edit, Looked up the F Griffin Dorsey (Rated #2 freshman this year by Top Drawer, Big10 Freshman of Year) Inidiana Univ lists the Rush as his youth team. Not sure how this works given other teams signing players in area as HG that never attended their youth academy's. https://www.ussoccer.com/stories/20...it-brings-153-players-together-in-single-camp Also, CB Quentin Pearson (Jr year) continues being starter for Washington Huskies http://www.gohuskies.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=3636
@JasonMa, have you paid any attention to some of the top youth signings by MLS teams the player had zero affiliation with. Is it all on some "boundaries" system now? Sporting KC had one I remember most.
Its the most opaque part of the MLS player acquisition process. I'm honestly not sure they have a full rule set for all the possible circumstances.
having played on the non-team in the late 80's and early 90's, that one hurts. (and sadly, you are still right after all these years.)
Just found this Burgundy wave report on top academy products while searching for who Rapids might be signing. https://www.burgundywave.com/2018/1...eline-the-colorado-rapids-development-academy My guess would be CB Quentin Pearson.

Bringing this back since HG is a major part of Roster these days. Some of guys listed have already been signed but I can't find any more current list of Rapids Youth players. https://www.burgundywave.com/2018/1...eline-the-colorado-rapids-development-academy Weird, Looks like Quentin Pearson gave up soccer after being a 3 year starter.
You can find our DA rosters linked on this page. https://www.coloradorapids.com/youth/developmentacademyteams#overview
https://www.coloradorapids.com/youth/2018-development-academy-under-19-roster https://www.kicker.de/oliver-larraz...ndesliga-west/2019-20/msv-duisburg-a-junioren Been meaning to post this....... but Oliver Larraz, ‘01 DA player, moved to MSV Duisburg’s U19’s at the end of October. Ollie’s hit the ground running with the U19’s and got his 1st start this weekend. By all accounts he’s performing well and could be slated to train with the 1st team during the German Winter Break. One of my coaching colleagues told me Larraz, over the summer, had some opportunities to training with the Rapids 1st team and talk was Oliver was / has been eyeballed for a HG contract. I don’t know how signing with MSV Duisburg effects that ability. I believe he had verbally committed to DU.
This is a pretty sobering look into RFO's history of developing talent.... https://rapidsrepublic.com/2019/12/02/homegrown-fortunes/
Fails to Mention with O'Neil that even with little MLS playing time he was making almost every all tourney team with the U-whatever USA call-ups. From what I understand Ego's (Both His and RFO's) derailed his development.
