Two youthful Yanks starting together in Champions League qualifying ... yawn. Against Union Saint-Galloise, surprise Belgian contenders and the best team in Belgium without an American on the payroll. I think maybe it will be good to have a combined thread for the season if they both might play frequently, but if a mod wishes to overrule, please go ahead.
Tillman beats a man off the dribble into the box and makes a dangerous pass right in front of goal, but too many defenders there and cleared away.
Tillman nearly pulls off a holy crap backheel to beat two guys in the attacking right corner and shows some fight afterward to win a corner.
Man, Tillman with a sweet turn to beat a man and nice forward pass that is poorly controlled by the striker, but Tillman shortly later gets it back and gets into space for a pretty good very long shot toward the lower corner. This has the potential to be the best game I've seen him play if he can keep this up.
Tillman and Matondo switched sides but the commentator can't tell them apart and blames Tillman for a foul he didn't commit.
Sands stuffs two attacks in quick succession, but the loose balls fell to Union both times so it wound up being their best chance yet.
Scorer sends pass through Sands legs. Sands steps off him. Ball comes back to him and he scores. Not sure Sands did the right thing there.
Nice bit of play again from Tillman - collects to create space, plays it wide and receives it back, accurate cross into a very dangerous area - seems like just a miss by Colak to not get a head on that.
Terrible moment of indecision on the ball there from Sands. Should have just hoofed it if he didn't see anything.
