Assuming it will be the All Star Game since it was cancelled last year. I’m a fan of this style rather than MLS v random euro team. Also the expansion of Leagues Cup, possibly
And in other, more exciting, news: BREAKING: The #USL is finalizing details of its upcoming pre-professional women's league, which is set to launch in 2022, sources tell @itsmeglinehan, @MLSist and me. An announcement may come as soon as this week. Our report at @TheAthleticSCCR: https://t.co/bQjvMN8hef— Jeff Rueter (@jeffrueter) June 7, 2021
Hope the owners have deep pockets. The issue, as it usually is in the US, is travel costs. That's one of the reasons that MLB in their new role as overlords for MiLB went to six game series. I have a feeling that will be more the norm. One reason that the Xoggz made it as long as they did was the fact that their sponsorship with America West gave them free travel. Kinsley noted back in the day that travel costs were a major, major expense. If the USL is smart, this league will be regional with very few or no cross-division games. BTW, you see this issue, albeit to a lesser extent, in parts of Europe. There's been quite a few cases of teams refusing promotion or dropping down a level. This season, 3 of the 4 top teams in the Regional League North in Germany (4th division) did not apply for a license for the 3rd Bundesliga (which is nationwide). Wattenscheid and Uerdingen (both former Bundesliga teams, and the latter played in Europe) went bankrupt.
I'm out of my element here, but do we have a sense of how this affects the WPSL, which I understand is an amateur league? Not sure what the difference is between pre-professional and amateur.
That's a good question. It may have something to do with preserving college eligibility or alternately a league for those players whose eligibility has ended but could not catch on with a pro team. In the latter case it might be like the new MiLB Draft League, which is intended to prepare players for the MLB Draft.
UEFA is scrapping the away goals rule for ALL competitions at the beginning of next season. This affects all three tiers... Champions, Europa and Conference leagues. If goals are even after 180 minutes, it's straight to 30 minutes of extra time. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/so...uefa-competitions-from-next-season/ar-AALoO9l
It was 116° in Portland today. A spot in Canada reached 121°. I though it was worth mentioning, because the Qatar World Cup was moved to November specifically to AVOID those kind of temperatures.
Well, this is ONE way to be included in UEFA Champions League Qualifying. https://www.espn.com/soccer/blog/th...ian-in-champions-league-draw-after-uefa-error

White Castle is celebrating 100 years of serving fine meat. It reminded me that Precourt sued Lisa Ingram, White Castle’s owner. Did we ever find out why? Speculation at the time was she was behind a STC investment plan. Just curious if that ever came to light. https://www.dayton.com/what-to-know...re/NQX64B7BB5GRHGLI65Y24UARGI/?outputType=amp
I do recall that Ingram was on the witness list for the 9.67 lawsuit. Nobody could or would say why, but she had some knowledge and involvement in the case.
In random non-soccer news, drop what you're doing: Barty and Pliskova are playing a Wimbledon women's final for the ages. What a match.
From: https://www.bizjournals.com/columbu...s-list-in-crew-sc-case-could-include-mls.html Lisa Ingram, president and CEO, White Castle Systems: Ingram might have knowledge of defendants’ compliance with [Ohio Revised Code 9.6 – the so-called Art Modell Law.]

The best part is when the keeper pops right up and holds out his arms in the classic soccer player "Who, me? Are you crazy? I never touched him" pose.
