Article mentions Junior Flores who never made a first-team appearance in his years at BVB, and retired at 22. Dude was hyped up so much by both Americans and Salvadorans, and his career never materialised. Shame. Borussia Dortmund Is Not Always A Bed Of Roses For Young Talent
Hope to see many Salvadoran-Americans emerging through this new system. MLS NEXT Pro unveils 21 clubs for inaugural season starting March 2022
I’ve been seeing Breel Embolo, a Cameroonian-born Swiss player, popping up lately over the fact that he scored against Cameroon. It just reminded me of the fact that Hugo Perez and Joe Corona both scored against ES, and Alex Roldan scored against Guatemala. Embolo didn’t celebrate his goal….. unlike Corona lol Just saw that Embolo, born in the capital of Cameroon, is who scored the winning goal for Switzerland. pic.twitter.com/dUjcdpLqmp— Zito (@_Zeets) November 24, 2022
IMO only Hugo Pérez counts. Roldán and Corona are born in the US and that's their nationality. By descent both are only half Guatemalan and Salvadoran respectively. Maybe in the future Alex Roldán will score against the USMNT.
Throughout the World Cup, I kept coming across tweets, articles and tiktok videos etc criticising Argentina’s lack of black players, which reminded me of an often-discussed topic regarding El Salvador and the national team.
Argentina doesn't have a significant native black population, that's ridiculous. Most blacks in Argentina are recent immigrants from Africa, mostly Senegalese. Does El Salvador have a black population?
Genocide is the reason for Argentina’s lack of a black population. El Salvador doesn’t have a black population, which is due to the policies implemented by WWII-era fascist dictator Maximiliano Hernandez Martinez banning blacks and Arabs in El Salvador.
That genocide theory is 100% BS. It has never been proven. The black population gradually decreased over the generations due to its mixture with whites and indigenous people. This happened in Mexico too.
