Ramiro “Chocolatín” Castillio, with out a doubt one of the best talents ever to be born in my country Bolivia. I say he is the best ever to come from my departamento La-paz. He played in Strongest where he formed him self in to one of the top exports from Bolivia in his time playing for teams like River plate, Rosario Central, Argentian Juniors and others. For me he was always the best player in Bolivia his best quality was his consistance. He was my idol I always wanted to play like him. And now almost 10 years from his death I miss him. I wonder what the world would be like with him still running the fields as a player or even as a coach. My hat goes off to el "Chocolatin". May god keep him close to his glory.

A great one from The Strongest. I remember when I heard the news I was just numb. Didn't know how to feel. I went to a DC United game a couple of days after his death and saw a huge Bolivian banner hung behind the south goal with a black sash across it. I felt incredibly sad. Marco Etcheverry was devastated. I sad time for all Bolivians here and back home. QEPD....

Yes def. one of the greatest bolivian soccer players ever!

I still remember his and Ochoaizpur's goal against Argentina in 96' was it? When that big riot occured in La Paz. When bolivia beat them. It was all because of him, he was our number 10 that day controlling the whole game, and was the only reason we beat argentina.

Easily one of my top 3 favorite players to wear la verde. A tragedy what occurred to him and his family and all the off-field problems that plagued him throughout his career and didn't let him fulfill his potential.

Who knows what would have happened if he had played in the CopaAmerica final against Brazil, or if he'd still be around today to coach or watch his son don Bolivias #10 but I guess it just wasn't meant to be :(

I didn't know how to quote from a different thread but below is a wonderful piece written by BS member Diego Londoño on the CONMEBOL forum.

    PERFILES
    RAMIRO CASTILLO
