Who would have thought he would perform better when not asked to play like a defensive midfielder?

This guy is so clutch in decisive games... the historic 2018 semifinal vs Gremio, the 2019 semifinals vs Boca, the 2019 copa final vs Flamengo (even though we ended up losing, he did put us up), the UEL vs Barcelona

He also scored in the CWC and finished as the tournament’s top scorer in his only appearance in it, although that unfortunately didn’t result in anything for the team.

It really seems he elevates his game for the big matches

Good for him. Got to be the hero with scoring the last penalty to win them their first European trophy in 42 years; the last also being the Europa League.

Eh who knows: maybe this thing going on with Ecuador has some legit base of them losing a spot and us moving up to Playoffs. I know Peru will definitely want to eliminate one of their top rivals and rather take direct qualification since FIFA formally invited them to get involved and post their case.

Good for Borre, he played a great game and is really finding a groove with Frankfurt. His work rate and link up play was really good, he may not have the highest ceiling in some areas but he does a lot for the team pressing and linking up play with his passing and dropping when the team needs it. He's been huge in winning this title.

It's not 100%, remember that the player in question played a total of 8 games in the qualifiers for Qatar; this isn't just one or two games. This is a serious concern especially if FIFA openly invited Peru; they're opened to the idea of straight up disqualifying Ecuador should proof that he was an illegal player come. Otherwise why even involve Peru unless it changes their situation as well?
