Vitamin E is good.
Buy some cheap Vitamin E sofgels and then poke a pin in one and squeeze the contents on the scar and rub in daily.

This works better the sooner you start it, so it's not really that effective on old scars. The prescription dressings and stuff aren't really all that effective.
