    Liam Miller

Liam Miller of Cork just came on for Celtic in their CL first round match against Lyon and has scored (to put the Bhoys 1-0 up) a CL goal in about 7 minutes for play... how's about giving him an int'l runout soon?

Liam Miller just scored for Celtic against Lyon!!

    Anyone see it? How'she playing?

May have to revise the squad predictions for the swiss game.

    Re: Liam Miller [R]

    How's he playing?

Oh btw, you should put an [R] in the header when posting a result.

Gary Breen has also scored this evening for Sunderland against Ipswich.

He seems to be in form.

Done. Cheers to Miller! But the Swiss match is not the time for debuts.

Stockport have conceded 2 more goals.... that can't be good for Colgan's confidence. Besides he must have a sore back by now from picking the ball out of the back of the net so much.

He played pretty well, he wasn't all over the place, but wasn't invisible... the goal was a good header though (something Ireland need help with).

Thanks for the (R), my bad for leaving that out

One of which was a John Sheridan penalty.

Gary Breen scored for Sunderland, and Healy and Butler both played.

Breen had minutes before scored in his own end. It's always the way isn't it? As soon as someone scores an OG minutes later they stick one in the other end.

Most (all) web sites have Darren Bent as scoring Ipswich's first.

From what I read it was a shot from Bent that Breen redirected into his own net. I suppose there's a grey area there between "deflection" and "own goal".

Some comments from Martin O' Neill on Liam Miller..........

Miller came off the bench to nod home Celtic's opener in the 70th minute and O'Neill was very pleased for the young Irishman.

"Sometimes it's difficult to get into the pitch of the game but he did so immediately," he said.

"He's come on leaps and bounds and he's going to be a really good player."

The 22-year-old from Cork scored in a pre-season game with Arsenal and again in the Champions League qualifying match with Kaunas but the goal against Lyon was a special moment for the youngster.

"We had been unlucky up to then and I was quite pleased in the end," said Miller.

"The team really dug deep, it was a great team performance - but that is the highlight of my career so far."

Was up at CP last night, and while we were doing ok for the first 15 minutes of the second half, once Miller came on we really livened up. He is always looking for the ball, is cool with it and doesn't lose posession easily, full of running, prepared to take people on and he scored.

It was a great result for Celtic, and importantly it was inspired by a young Irishman coming on with 30 minutes to go!!!

The future looks good with this one.......

Will he be better than Healy? O'Neill must seem to think so...

Lets not forget Cardiff's Irish, Kavanagh & Boland.

Kavanagh was the man-of-the-match in last nights 0-0 draw with Wigan. This follows on from his man-of-the-match display in Cardiff's 3-0 win on saturday against Crewe.

    That Rainieri is something else.

Probably Chelseas two best players this season, aside from Mutu, Hasselbaink and Duff, left on the bench. A complete change of the system in a vital CL match and they find themselves 2-0 down at half time.

Hopefully this will see Duff on for the second half.

Duff played the full second half, but Chelsea lost 2-0. Man United lost 2-1, and O'Shea was taken off in the second half.

No Irish goals in the First division.
