Population 66,000. That would be incredible if they moved onto the final 12. BTW, Jamaica is looking like they are going to give the U.S.-Barbados game a run for the money, already up 3-0 in the first half against the Bahamas.
They are not FIFA-recognized, but they are CONCACAF-recognized. Long story short, they are to France what Hawaii is to the United States.
Puerto Ricans can, and have, played on the US NT. Hawaii is a state and has full representation in the national government. Guadeloupe (like Marianas Islands) are overseas territories (in the case of French territories I believe they are called departments) and they are considered full citizens with voting rights, but they have no official representation in the Parliament/Congress.
LMAO I wanna see what Warner pulls in match 2 to get T&T to advance. We'll probably see something like 3 Bermuda players red carded and a couple of BS penalty calls.
Bermuda hasn't really played that well recently, although they did do well four years ago, only losing to El Salvador 4-3 on aggregate. But they really should be huge underdogs against Trinidad. Khano Smith is their best player.
Overseas departments have the exact same political position and rights as a metropolitan department. Meaning that Guadeloupe and the Rhone are political equals. Hawaii
Can we stop discussing Guadeloupe , its been said 1,000 times they are not a country!!! and overseas department= oversea state ie Hawaii Over one more question about them and i'm going to flip! Moving on! Antigua cuba should be exciting!
I asked because it said "postponed" on espndeportes.com yesterday so i thought it was postponed for some reason...
Channel 7 from Belize has some good stories on the Belize-Mexico match, including the buildup, Belizean fans in Houston, and postgame reaction: http://www.7newsbelize.com/ There's a video link on the right side of the screen (the stories about the match start about 7 minutes in, after a bunch of Belizean ads, and again after 54 minutes), but if it rebuffers like crazy, you can read the transcripts if you scroll down the page.
Agreed. The player who scored their two goals, Nusum, played in the MISL with the Kixx last season. For our foreign friends that's the Major INDOOR soccer league in the United States, which I think (not 100% positive) is going out of business. So while their players are professionals, they're not playing at very high levels. Although I think Nusum does play for the Hogges now. If these smaller Carribbean nations can get more players into MLS and other CONCACAF leagues it would be a big help to their cause. Guys like Shalrie Joseph of Grenada, Khano Smith of New England, Ezra Hendrickson of Columbus (? where does he play now), etc. have shown that they can do well. The Caribbean players have plenty of athletic ability, you could see that in the USA-Barbados match. They just have no "soccer IQ," and their technical ability is substandard. But if they could get 5-6 players at an international level they have the chance to pull off some upsets in CONCACAF. Are there any Caribbean players in the Mexican league or central American leagues? (I'm not talking about T&T and Jamaica, but the other Car. nations)
Something weird is going on with your team. Kenwyne Jones being out certainly hurts. You could make a serious case that he's the 3rd or 4th best striker in CONCACAF right now. From the Sunderland games I saw this season, he's the kind of guy who should dominate a team like Bermuda. T&T's problem as usual is defense. They have plenty of talented attacking players, but a team like them should never give up two goals to Bermuda.
