Hey schwabe or offerbacher (or any German willing to help) my cousin is going to Germany to visit her parents. I asked her if she could get me some soccer gear while she is there, but the town she is staying in is rather small. I think it is near Strasbourg.

What I wanted to ask was: Do most towns sell German club/national team gear at local shops or do you have to go to a big city?

Smaller cities with at least 5000 inhabitants have sport stores, which should sell at least national team gear. Find out the name of the city she visits and we'll take it from there.
Strassburg is in France by the way ...so the German side could be somewhere like Baden - Baden .

My buddy just went to Munich on biz and brought me back a new national team home jersey. Pretty cool since I just recently found out I have a pretty good chunk of German blood in me:) He said he found it in a mall but schwabe and offenbacher would know best

Yeah problem is she said that Munich is about 3-4 hours away from her parents' home.

Like Schwabe said, most places have Sportartikel stores unless they are really small towns. One of the things we can do is give you a potential listing of stores when we know exactly where she is going exactly.

Most Clubs have team shops located at the Stadiums with some of the bigger ones also having outlets in the town itself.

Another option would be to have her parents order the items and get them delivered in Germany (most have no or small shipping fees in country) and then have her bring it back for you. That is probably the easiest route. If you want we can give you some links for websites.

I know-my point was that it looks like that most malls will have some sort of sports shop.

Okay I found out the cities. She is flying in to Zurich, taking a train to Basel, and going to Schopfeim and then to Stuttgart for one day.

Her parents actually live right on the border of Germany and Switzerland but are in Germany.

I've passed on the info to her earlier, y'all have been very helpful.

I got a friend in Stuttgart but he will not be my friend for long if I call him in the middle of the night asking for a discount store...

There are usually some local stores offering stuff as well, mostly in slightly larger cities. It all depends upon what you want - shoes or clothing and if it is clothing. Karstadt and other department stores also stock basic sports equipment, mostly for running, biking, swimming or playing football (ie soccer).
I bet you would find tons of stuff given half an hour in any major European city.

Unless you buy fakes at markets...New soccer shirts, $15 looks the same but you´d better not wear it while playing games.

    Re: Question for Ze Germans

    Um no it's not.

Example, I buy a Stuttgart t-shirt online, wow it's only $19, wait, they want to add on $33 shipping. I said hell no.

I go to Marseille store, good looking shirt on sale for $13, they want to add on $28 shipping. No!

I'll gladly pay a little more if shipping doesn't cost anything.

    Re: Question for Ze Germans

Oh she's not back yet. :)

She's staying in a place called Kandern (German border but in Germany) helping volunteering at a children's camp; it's just an excuse so she doesn't have to pay for a hotel or food while she travels around southern Germany, Switzerland, and France.

She won't be back here until February.

    Re: Question for Ze Germans

Hey Schwabe or Offerbacher could y'all give me a physical address for some Sport shop in Kandern, Germany?

She also wants an address in Basel but that's probably not y'alls expertise.
