http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/qpr-look-to-loan-joey-barton-to-championship-7941455.html QPR looking to loan Joey Barton to Championship team, possibly Blackburn. "The greater volume of league games over the early part of the campaign in the Championship means the 29-year-old midfielder could be available for QPR by November." Sounds like this is an attempt to outwit the system, because the Championship has more games, his ban would end quicker (still 12 games, but the time frame would be shortened) and they would be able to recall him when they want...
That's a pretty smart move... except I'm not really looking forward to him coming back quickly. Or at all. But I guess it's not a bad football decision.
Another rumor; QPR launching £8m big for Dimitar Berbatov: http://www.caughtoffside.com/2012/0...-bid-for-man-united-striker-dimitar-berbatov/ Berbatov is 31, seems a tad bit old. I wish QPR would invest in some younger players...
We do have some younger players among the core group: Diakite is 23, Taarabt is 23, Traore is 23, Faurlin is 25 (nearly 26), Onuoha is 25.
...and speaking of young players. Read More http://www.fulhamchronicle.co.uk/london-qpr/2012/07/16/qpr-poised-to-win-hoilett-race-82029-31407777/#ixzz20oIirC5B
True. And Diakite, Taarabt and Faurlin could hold some significant future transfer value - but that's about it. The club has a lot of high wage/no future asset contracts which are not ideal - we're not really playing Soccernomics very well. But the board/Fernandes knows they need older, established players to sustain Premier League football at HQ til they can a) get the new training ground built b) get the youth system back to academy status and c) get into a new stadium down the road.
Couldn't be more true. I think in terms of building a sustainable mid-table squad, they're taking the correct approach. A core group with a mix of veterans and 20-somethings should mean they stay up while they complete the training grounds, academy, and stadium, so when the first wave of academy players starts to break into the 1st team, the 20-somethings are the veterans.
The Mirror reckons that Mackie is off to Blackburn for 3.5 million. That's be a disaster!!!! http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/transfer-gossip-qprs-jamie-mackie-1144775
I certainly wouldn't sell Mackie. He doesn't have thet greatest first touch, but then again my friends who've seen a good bit of Blackburn says neither does Hoilett. Mackie is one of the few players on our team who can change a game. I hope he's in our 25 come August. I've read that we could owe in the neighborhood of £3m in compensation for Hoilett. I hope this isn't purely an attempt to pay for Hoilett's move.
Fitz Hall appears likely to end up at Watford (free transfer -- he's out of contract). http://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/defender-hall-close6-to72-watford-move Akos Buzsaky is drawing interest from Forest and Bristol City. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18871944
And now after weeks of Will He? Won't He? How much will Blackburn get? Welcome to the club Junior Hoilett!
http://mobile.qpr.co.uk/runtime/qpr/article?articleId=2867671 Helguson sold to Cardiff. He probably wouldn't have gotten much time, but was very productive in spots last year and you can hardly have too many strikers.
I don't speak French, but Joey Barton could be off to Marseille... http://www.espoirsdufootball.com/25315-joey-barton-annonce-a-lolympique-de-marseille.html And he wasn't given a squad number today.
Reports are that a loan to Marseille would be for the full season: http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11800/7996833/Barton-set-for-Marseille-loan Apparently we're getting 26-year-old Cameroon international CB/M Stephane Mbia (15 Ligue 1 appearances last season) in return.
Interesting. I don't remember his name popping up for us before now. He's 29. http://www.fulhamchronicle.co.uk/london-qpr/2012/08/17/qpr-agree-bosingwa-deal-82029-31642501/ http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/aug/17/qpr-chelsea-jose-bosingwa?newsfeed=true
It's official. QPR signs Jose Bosingwa. http://www.qpr.co.uk/news/article/170812-bosingwa-signs-318610.aspx There are nw three Champions League winners in the squad (Park Ji-Sung and Djibril Cisse).
Matt Connolly is off to Cardiff. Really nice piece on his time at HQ by Clive Wittingham, glad I took the time to read it... http://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/footba..._his_qpr_losses_leaving_potential_unfulfilled
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/aug/23/qpr-talks-sign-julio-cesar?newsfeed=true http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2896...er-goalkeeper-julio-cesar?source=breakingnews Julio Cesar to QPR? We might be signing a 32 (33 in Sept) goalkeeper who was UEFA club goalkeeper of the year in 2009-10 while winning the Champions League? The second article above says personal terms have been agreed (a report I saw elsewhere on the web says he'll be taking a 37% cut in wages to come to us, which is still likely a massive wage). "The Brazil international is expected to complete the move within the next day or so but the deal faces complications, as he has two years remaining on his contract and so may be entitled to a payoff."
