He is a handicap in controlling matches defensively and offensively. The team creates almost nothing and concedes plenty.

Remember what Wijnaldum did in that position... it is a position that makes you look favorable.

 

We can play out this game as is but it would be nice to try a different impulse… Simons for Klaassen and Frimpong for Dumfries. Then at some point I’d like to see Lang too

 

• To neutralize this team, mark Frenkie De Jong and Gakpo (75% of the goals so far), let Memphis shoot because he can't shoot on target at all.
• This team won't change tactic (say 4-3-3) unless they fall behind. Van Gaal will stick with this for every game to start and maybe to finish as well. Probably the plan vs stronger team is to defend, counter attack and PK.
• I really don't like it when players like De Roon or Klaassen gave away dangerously on their own halves or when Memphis cannot control the ball killing an attack but it is what it is.
• Qatar is not a good test. I hope they can make 2-0.
• I hope someone will step up because just Gakpo is not good enough.

 

There we goes. Frenkie hustled from behind Qatar player and made it 2-0. I'd like to see that effort from every players.
