    In response to The Angel:

When I said there are 5 players ahead of Senderos, I was talking about Toure, Gallas, Vermaelen, Djourou and Song - not Silvestre.

As for Melo - they are squabbling over 4k a week, I don't expect something like that to ruin the transfer. I mean come on, who do they think they are? Cashley?

Rewinder, Senderos had a whopping 7 appearances for Milan. How in the hell do you gain any insight from that? I'd still prefer having him on board than out on loan doing squat. That doesn't make him more valuable on the pitch or on the market.

I'd play him over Mikael Silvestre in just about any match.

This is exactly what I've been saying.

The biggest problem this team has had the last few years has been squad depth. If Carlos Tevez can sit on the bench for United, then Senderos can sit on the bench for Arsenal. If (when) one of Vermaelen, Kolo or Gallas gets injures, in comes Philipe.

We all saw how bad Silvestre was last year, Senderos at least showed in 2006 that he has the POTENTIAL to be very good.

So why in the hell would Wenger buy Silvestre and send Senderos off to do fcuk-all at Milan? I found that bizarre. At least both are at his disposal this summer.

    *shrugs*

    i dunno doug.
maybe he wanted milan to make the move permanent.
i know id rather have phillipe play as our 4th string CB than silvestre.

Anyone else tempted by by 45 million for Cesc? If we get Melo for 20 and tell him to really sit back, somehow I can see Arshavin running the show in the middle. he has at least as good touch and vision as cesc, imo, though he does lack the all-important cesc-shuffle. I would also love two players with an eye for a goal playing in the middle, i got a little sick of pass to ade and have him hold it up by running away from the goal.

so the formation may look like:
    dudu-rvp
    rosicky-aa-melo-walcott
    clichy-verm-gallas-sagna
    almunia

and we'd have a bench of nasri, ade, bend, toure, senderos, diaby, eboue, song, denilson

a healthy dudu and rosicky +verm and senderos coming back really add a lot of quality depth to the squad and we'd still have 20m or so to spend.

and arshavin taking corners instead of cesc will add at least 10+ goals.

These threads are so funny. 45m for Cesc. Melo on the way. Yaya wants to sign. Ribery is nearly here. On and on.

yeah hilarious. i was just curious if anyone else thought arshavin + a decent dm could do the job as well as cesc.

but yeah, you are totally right i hate people that yaya wants to sign. its just such a waste of space. how ridiculous is that??!

arshavins more of a penetrative dribbler than a passer mate

i think he needs to be in the attacking third, maybe nasri could be the cesc replacement?

I seem to remember him having a game where he had two or three straight horrible corners. but i can't remember cesc ever having a good delivery from the corner. i have faith that arshavin can whip the ball in much better. you have to admit that cesc is the worst regular corner taker in the premiership.

He was awful in one or two games. Most of his deliveries from a dead ball were miles ahead of anyone else on the team.....

If you want to talk about consistently bad corners look at Fabregas.

Banega is an immature idiot... who loves to wack off in web cams...

immensely talented, but probably not as talented as Gago (who, despite his poor 2nd half is actually a good player... a lot of his issues started when Lassana Diarra came to the club, and Diarra is not really a traditional holding mid himself, so they clashed on the pitch)... Banega is also a bit of a hot head on the pitch... the fact that Valencia paid 17 million for him, and are now trying to offload him for 8 million euros (if these reports are true) should tell you something

he is really talented tho... akindele can tell you more about him
