How does promotion work from the 3 Groups of 1.Liga into the Challenge League? It looks like last year the top 2 teams from each group, as well as the two best 3rd place teams, were drawn into an 8-team playoff for two spots. However, when I look at the official football.ch web site, and the way the lines are drawn under certain clubs in the Group standings, it doesn't match up. It looks like Nyonnais should already be qualified for the playoffs since they have a big lead with just one match to play.

Can anyone who is more familiar with this clear it up for me?

    Many thanks,

    Dave

well, the playoff for the two spots has been drawn already. The semi-final fixtures are

    Stade Nyonnais - Biel
    Cham - Carouge
    ---------------------
    UGS - Red Star
    Gossau - Solothurn

the winners play in the final for a place in Challenge League

in case at the end of the return match, the two teams are level on goal do the away goals count double (like in the Champions League)?

I'm definitely pulling for Urania. Now that's a club with history and tradition...

they even won the Paris-Cup I think which then became the UEFA-Cup

btw, Bertarelli is a friend of the UGS president, so there would be financial potential behind

but they are not allowed to waste their opportunities as in the first leg

although I'm for Servette, I would be very interested in seeing UGS in CL again

Biel just doesn't manage to pass the playoffs, just like Carouge...
