II division B beside Micalense, Lusitania, I believe Ribeira Brava its either from Madeira or Azores

Minhocas and Boavista are the first two teams from Ilha das Flores to make the 3rd division. Boavista made it last year, and Minhocas this year.

This is the table for Serie Acores in the III Divisao:

Both of the Flores teams are struggling so far. :(

Are you referring to Santo Antonio in Sao Miguel?

I got a cousin who plays for Santo Antonio in the Divisao III, Serie Acores. I think he makes like 1,000 dollars a month. Not bad when you consider its a tiny town in a tiny island (Sao Miguel)

    ...there are such things? :p

in all seriosness, i thought the islands were too small to host much of anything. how big are they in square km/mi?

You do know competitive soccer isn't limited to large cities right?
And Sao Miguel Acores...is the birthplace of Pauleta. Who may go down as Portugal's all-time best goalscorer, one of the best foreign players to play in France, not to mention his renowned play in la liga years prior to his venture into La Championnet.

The Açores have a population of 237,000 people. The area is 2,355 sq. km or 893 sq. miles.

Ilha do Flores has a population of 4,500 people. Flores is 17 km long and 12.5 km at it's widest point.

Yup. Madalena is currently in 1st place in Serie Acores, so it looks like they have a pretty good shot of getting promoted to II Divisao B.

That's true put I hear that the team has been placed under a lot of scrutiny, since the island is just one big hill, somehow Madalena has found a way to always be shooting at the goal on the downhill side, making the other team always have an "uphill climb" to get back into the game. Word is, Pinto da Costa has already lodged a complaint anticipating their eventual climb to the Superliga. ;)
