Yeah but looking at ABM's posting history shows he doesn't post about the Fire itself as much as he whines about his fellow fans. Which is fine, I suppose, but then he gets all whiny when people point that out to him. And the circle of life completes itself. That said, at least we won the game.
Renfro is a goalkeeper Franco an RB Walsh must be an LB for Jumper? I don't know who he is Freddie Braun was the open tryout winner, plays as a central mid, so I assume came on for Ritter. Gulley for Gentile What surprises me is we played King and Bolden (a fourth round pick) today and not Atouba, who was definitively a reserve player last year. Though there's no telling if its because a) he's injured and/or otherwise not fit to play b) Yallop thinks he's moved up past this reserve team already or c) he's an even worse option than those guys. He's a player I hoped/expected could make the step up to at least a very solid backup this year. Interested to see if he pops up at any point this preseason.
Was looking for some other stuff and noticed this interesting fact, related to my comment about not seeing Atouba. We played 18 players today. With four outfield players, Alves, Kinney(!), King, and Dantes, playing the whole 90. Compare that to last year where Klopas played 28 of the 32 players on the preseason roster. He put out basically the starting XI for 30 minutes. A total of 8 trialists played. http://www.chicago-fire.com/news/20...-0-victory-over-florida-gulf-coast-university Not to draw too many conclusions from that, but it does seem like, on a one game sample size, Yallop has a much more focused idea on what he wanted out of this game. Which was presumably to test a bunch of fringe guys.
This team has a lot of incredible young attacking talent competing for a couple of back up roster slots.I would say Kinney and Jumper are probably going to have to battle for their roster spots.
I think based on salary and depth, those two might be safe. I agree with your sentiment about the youth. It reminds me of when we got Corbin Bone. Obviously we hope things turn out better.
Let's work on a new owner first. I wouldn't want CJ to be the head coach under Andy. I didn't want that for Frank 1.0 either. Frank 2.0? I don't really give a shit about him. I hope he does well, but if/when his efforts are crushed by our know-nothing owner, I won't feel bad when he gets shitcanned.
Maybe we can get one of these Chicago billionaires to buy the team. http://www.chicagotribune.com/busin...ionaires-2013-20130304,0,5322068.photogallery
The Pritzker Family would be awesome. There were six or seven of them in that list of billionaires, with three or four in their 50s or younger. The rest of the list included old people and a young hedge fund guy. The hedge fund guy would make me nervous.
A Pritzker owning the team would be awesome. How about the creepy Beanie Baby guy, Ty Warner? Hard to believe he became a billionaire selling crappy stuffed animals. (Shit, people will buy anything). Even harder to believe he still has his fortune. He was just convicted on tax evasion charges (and received 2 years probation, but could have received 5 years in prison), so he could use some positive PR. Imagine the give-aways we could have.
I'm going to say it: Wirtz. They're rich, know how to run a sports organization and distribute more alcohol than I care to consider.
Pritzker money has been broken up by the family. Wirtz? He is still claiming the Hawks have lost money the last 4 years.
