I am new to following soccer. I was wondering what places does a team need to finish in, without being sent back down? Also is every team capable of being sent down if they finish to low no matter who they are?
Ok, quick synopsis. Premiership - The 3 clubs at the bottom go down to division 1, and yes, they go down no matter who they are. Division 1 - The top 2 clubs go up to the Premiership automatically. The next 4 clubs (3rd to 6th place) playoff for the final promotion place for the Premiership Bottom 3 go down to division 2. Division 2 - Top 2 go up, third place playoff (as in div 1), bottom 4 go down to division 3 Division 3 - Top 3 go up automatically, playoff spot for the 4th place. Bottom club goes out of the football league and into the conference, and so it goes on and on and on. But basically there you go. EPL to division 3.
Lets face it the first country to do a gameshow where you can win a million or get kicked out on the street will almost certainly be in america(ala Running Man Kinda) yet for most US sports Teams the season is over by half season. we have relegation and cup tourneys
The FA Cup is the worlds oldest football tourney. It involves hundreds of Teams amateur and professional The Top Teams dont enter until the 3rd round proper. Sometimes an amateur side gets all they way through the qualifying stages to meet a premiership side. Its straight who ever wins the Tie goes through to the next round. The Winners automatically qualify for the uefa cup The league cup has been going since the 60's and is named after the sponsor's, so if the sponsors change so does the name of the trophy. It involves only teams from the 4 pro divisions. The winners for the moment are garuntted a uefa place but that is in dispute every season by uefa themselves. Its not as prestigous as the FA CUp which draws TV audiences of over 500,000,000. for the final Both finals are played in WALES, since the Wembley fiasco.
