I mean, who cares if he’s disrespected Sp*rs fans? Fvck Harry Kane anyway. He’s definitely shown disrespect to professional footballers at large by being a petty dickhead who tries to injure his fellow competitors continuously while also pretending he’s been injured by them when he definitely hasn’t. He should’ve been given a penalty yesterday. But I have zero sympathy for anyone who wants to complain about the fact he wasn’t. Harry Kane can suck it.
I’m sure you’ve listened to it by now but the boys talk about it on the Arsecast extra today. They say everybody loves Stuart and view him as a part of the team and didn’t read anything more into it.
oh, as usual, i agree with all the points you made. i think teams need to get together and make a joint complaint about that bullshit he does with backing in under a jumping player and get that rule changed. but i disagreed with the assertion made in the post i responded to.
If U noticed, xhaka did some good turns and passes but early on, lost the ball a few times by playing really poor passes into people under pressure lokonga is able to keep the ball much better and is a reasonable passer. I would feel more secure with him and partey but I guess arteta wants a lefty to cover the wide area when tierney bombs on
Here we have pictured two players, one is the best Asian player in the Premier League at the moment, and the other is Son.
Probably. Although Gabriel got taken out in their box---right after a set piece, I believe---that might have been a PK in our favor, but certainly would've been called if David Luiz had been the perpetrator. And, oh yeah.....I don't care. Indeed.
I was wrong. Granit Xhaka has suffered a ruptured inner ligament in his right knee, according to @AndreasBoeni.Initial diagnosis suggests he'll be out for at least 6 to 8 weeks. #AFC— Chris Wheatley (@ChrisWheatley) September 28, 2021
wow, that sucks. it sucks for dude, i mean, you don't want to see most players get injured*. but, also, selfishly, post-fuck up+return to the lineup is usually xhaka's best period. also, umm, any absence makes his sale even harder. *i refuse to say "all" because there are players i would absolutely cheer their wreckage.
lokonga is consistently complimented on his footballing intelligence and considers himself a defensive-oriented midfielder so, if coverage for tierney is a concern, i would bet lokonga can do it just as well if not better than xhaka ever could. i think it's more about xhaka (like partey) having that pass in him to split the defense where we don't know if lokonga has that in his locker yet. but, like you, i would much prefer lokonga's steadiness in dealing with pressure.
Apparently not an ACL, more likely an MCL. Not all MCL injuries require surgery. From Wikipedia: “The typical return-to-play time frame for most athletes with a grade III medial knee injury undergoing a rehabilitation program is 5 to 7 weeks”
I think the club web page confirmed it's an MCL. https://www.arsenal.com/news/team-news-update-granit-xhaka
Does “Grade III” = rupture? Or was that Wheatley tweet wrong to call it a rupture? Hard to imagine no surgery for a rupture
Sounds like the preliminary report was too optimistic, Wheatley sent an updated tweet today saying Xhaka is out 3 months. Granit Xhaka has been ruled out for three months with a significant injury to his medial knee ligament. #AFC— Chris Wheatley (@ChrisWheatley) September 29, 2021 Could be back just in time for AFCON. Huge opportunity for Sambi, hopefully it is not too much too soon.
one of my favourite things about the transfer strategy this window - besides seeming to have an actual strategy - is the seeming focus on character and footballing intelligence. lokonga as far as everything i have read grades out pretty high on both so i can see him getting through it with flying colour. there will likely be growing pains as he might not physically be where he needs to be for the premier league yet. but, man, am i excited. the other, for me, super exciting thing is arteta seems to be wedded to the 4-2-3-1 because of how much he values xhaka's contribution. what if lokonga's introduction is the last nudge to get him to commit to the 4-3-3?
